Vredenstein Wintrac Pro - how are they in dry winter weather?

    Hey everyone,

I live in Philadelphia PA, I do NOT daily drive, so I have a bit of a conundrum. Lately I've been running two sets of wheels for my B7 RS4. On the summer 19x9.5 wheels I have Michelin PSS summer tires. Last winter I ran Bridgestone Blizzacks on the OEM 19x9s but I hated it. In the winter, the temperatures tend to be pretty stable in the 30s, and on longer highway trips in the dry winter weather, I was absolutely shredding the winter tires, and I HATED cornering them. I know obviously they aren't meant for this, but I just don't want to spend 6 months having to baby my car around because my tires suck. It only snows in Philadelphia like 2x a year, and I only drive in the snow because I think it's fun to go do donuts. I don't have to. I've been thinking about getting the Vredenstein Wintrac Pros for my winter set because they're one of the only winter tires rated to the stock tire speed of Y (186), so hopefully they wouldn't wear disastrously if being driven at 80-90mph for long distances. Has anybody run these, and do you have any feedback for how these feel/wear in dry winters? If nobody does, I may just end up going with Continental DWS06 because those are the most "snow-ready" of the UHP all season tire class.

I have no experience with the Wintrac Pro's, I've always used Blizzak. Seeing how you use your car in the winter I would go with the DWS06. I think you'll have more fun doing donuts with this tire than you would with any winter. Plus you'll have a decent amount of snow traction if you need it.

Yea I was strongly considering those and the Michelin Pilot Sport All Seasons. I remember last winter I went out to do some donuts and I could literally smell burning rubber because the blizzaks were getting rid of the snow so efficiently lol.

I have them on the Q7 and they are fine, not as sharp as the Goodyears Eagles but great on cold days dry or wet.
They are fine at speed I drive 70 to 80. Corner's granted I don't hit them as fast as the A6 as its a SUV and my wife is with me.

I wound up getting the Vredenstein Hypertrac all seasons because they had a good promo at tire rack and I was able to pick them up in delaware at the last second after realizing my blizzaks would not last a full season. Will report back but so far in the cold dry weather they've been great
