This is most def the way to go. I don’t understand people paying big dollars for replacement pipes that cost way more in labor & only remove 2 of the 3.

Hope the additional delete worked out for you! The security guard at my garage asked me the other day why my car is whisper quiet sometimes but “screaming” at others :)

I just did resonator delete on mine. While it did add volume I think I will be bored of it and find it too quiet. Thinking catted downpipes are in my near future. Time will tell.

Res delete + uni DPs is what I'm running. Sounds fantastic under load, but stock when cruising down the highway. No codes on mine after about 3k miles including multiple hard pulls.

    Cool! Thanks!

I take it you're car is not tuned?

ugh. $5k for DPs. I keep choking on where pricing for cats has gone.

Wife just picked up an sq7 and it sounds better than my rs6 too lol. Sad really, but I bet doing the res delete makes it to loud?

Apologies for waking up this dormant thread….those that cut out the three resonators and welded in 3” pipes, did anyone put an X- pipe in place of the suitcase resonator, if yes, any comment on the sound compared to non-connected?

    Thanks

I've had my stock RS6 for almost 1 year and a half and I found the exhaust sound really underwhelming. I've been thinking about upgrading the exhaust without spending too much money. But the thing is this is my wife's daily driver and she prefers it QUIET.

I'm trying to convince her that the resonator delete only makes the exhaust louder with the valves open and no noticeable difference with the valves closed. For those who had fitted the resonator delete, is this true? If it does make the exhaust louder with the valves closed, by how much? I don't want to upset my wife and have to change it back lol.

I'm assuming it won't make it much louder with the valves open either, right? I heard it wouldn't make much difference without replacing the stock downpipe. As I'm not running on any tunes yet, I won't be bothered to replace the DP.

A side question, I found CTS turbo also makes the resonator delete for C8 RS6. How's that compared to the Redstar? Has anyone tried this yet? It's slightly cheaper and is better looking imo. Sound wise I couldn't tell much difference.

    Your inputs are appreciated. Thanks!

Fo0r what its worth I went down the whole exhaust mod rabbit hole and settled on the redstar delete with vale contoller via remote control. Its perfect. Redstar kit was very impressive and I had Lamborghni dealer install as well as valve controller. So now i have valves open almsot all the time and I'd say the combo of valves plus res del is what the RS6 should have been from factory.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking about doing exactly what you have done but I couldn’t establish if the exhaust valve controller opened the valves more than the factory open setting. Since the car sounds best during a cold start, I’m speculating that this is the valves fully open and when it’s warm and in Dynamic mode the valves aren’t fully open.

Do you notice if the car is any louder with an after market valve controller that forces the valves fully open all the time, or is it the same?

    Thanks

I'm still on the fence on this. Getting it done soon though.

Question: What is the advantage of a resonator delete kit vs. just doing the resonator delete at the local muffler shop?

Same question, I want more sound but really curious what is the point of paying a bunch extra to buy a res-delete kit from 034, CTS, etc. vs just going to a muffler shop and paying $300 for them to cut out and put straight pipes in?

There is none, except your stock pipes are cut so to revert back to normal you'd need to weld them vs. just swap back. I have zero regrets.

I removed both the front two and had an H pipe put in where the suitcase was. Best $600 I've ever spent.

FWIW and likely what others have said, all three resonators deleted is perfect. Can't say enough about it. Best bang for buck mod for these cars. Quiet until you want it loud. Wife approved.

I got the front resonators removed yesterday and really like the difference in sound - like others have said about ~15% louder, not crazy loud but definitely more lively under load and when downshifting. Can anyone comment on the difference when going from just front resonators removed to all 3 resonators removed? Basically I'm curious what sort of the difference removing the suitcase will make.

My RS7 with the unitronic stage 1+ tune makes it loud enough and the removal of the rev limiter to 5k RPM is perfect. No hardware modifications are needed...

It's significant, but very reasonable. I wouldn't know how to put a % on it, but comparatively, there's a bigger increase after removing the 3rd resonator, than from removing the front two. With valves closed, it's still basically stock. Except now with them open, there's a genuine growl that the stock car is missing. It still is very far away from sounding like an aftermarket exhaust.

    Hey all,

I’m looking at the CTS Turbo resonator delete product for my 2022 RS7:

    https://www.ctsturbo.com/product/cts...onator-delete/

The other question I have is whether there is any confirmed /measured very minor HP or Torque improvement from just a simple resonator delete (the suitcase) that anyone is aware of?

Anyone have any recent experience with this product, and if so, any thoughts (either pro or con)? Looks like one or two posters liked it from what I saw above back in 2021 and 2022. Thx!

Yep, I have that on my '24 RS7 and it's fantastic. The car sounds like it should with great low tones from the V8. Nice and quiet with the valves closed and raspy with pops with them open. Wide open throttle it sound fantastic and it gives a great sound when downshifting. You won't be disappointed. I went this route prior to spending $5K on an exhaust and this sounds just like the AWE exhaust I was looking to add.

Thank you! Yeah, I was just scratching my head trying to grasp the $5,000 spend versus $950 for CTS! (plus, I didn’t want to make any cuts).

I have the 034 kit on my 2024. It's exactly what I was looking for in keeping the stock appearance and sound with the valves closed and just enhancing the depth and volume by maybe 10-20% with them open.

Have you heard and AWE system in person or just videos? I had the deletes, wanted more and put on the AWE. Huge difference.

AWE is much more refined, louder in valve open mode, and super nice valves closed. No drone in either mode with AWE which is really impressive.

You get what you pay for with both options, but they are definitely not equal.

Fair enough, but for the record: the res delete and a full exhaust like the AWE are not going to sound the same, despite what you originally wrote.

The AWE exhaust is sooo much better, both refined and loud. The res delete was unrefined to my ear, and not as loud as the AWE when the valves opened.

    Pro tip: you’re missing out.

Ha! Appreciate the info but I just turned 50 and I'm over the loud exhausts. I came from the Jeep Trackhawk and I had that tuned with an exhaust. Sounded fantastic but I've mellowed now. The cabin in these cars are so quiet that I can't hear just how loud it is behind me. I've had people constantly ask what's in this as they say it's sound fantastically loud but in a good way. It's enough for me as this is my daily driver, however I'm sure the AWE sounds great too.

I’m 55, loud unrefined exhausts aren’t my thing either.

    The AWE ain’t that.

Just for the record. Since this is a res-delete question thread.

I’d argue that the AWE is actually the more mature, sophisticated choice between the two. Not cheap, but 100% worth it, IMO. No regrets here at all.

    Cheers,

Just installed the CTS mid-pipe resonator delete. Perfect for me: slightly louder with flaps open and a bit of a deeper growl. No sound change in quiet mode. No droning or other unwanted sounds.

Agree, this is how it should have come stock!

Had an exhaust shop delete both of the front and the mid resonators for $350. May be like 5% louder with valves closed, and probably 40% louder with valves open (given how quiet the stock exhaust was even with valves open, definitely a good thing)

Agree with others, should have come stock this way. Plus deleting the resonators probably saved like 30lbs. Not a ton given this car weighs close to 5,000lbs but never a bad thing

I used EMD Auto for the kit, $450,Bull-X Resonator Delete Pipes For Audi RS6 / RS7 (C8). On my 25, it made a hell of a difference. it is loud at WOT, sounds perfect with its burbles and downshifts. I don't listen to the B&O much. It comes with high-quality clamps. In drive it is very quiet. Had it installed in about 20 minutes. My experience with people doing the delete with welds on my s7, it leaked.

I did the Redstar front res delete as soon as I got the car. I didn't cut out the rear resonators because the car was leased.

Now that the lease is done, I removed the rear resonators. I would say the Redstar res delete contributed to 2/3rds of the volume increase and the rear resonator delete the last 1/3. The rear resonator delete gave it a little more volume and a lower tone.

Like you said, it should have been like this from stock. Not sure who at Audi said "MORE QUIET", must be some really uptight person. LOL

In comfort mode, it literally still sounds stock. In sport mode, it sounds MUCH better. I still wish it was louder though.

One thing about the Redstar, BOTH exhaust clamps rusted through after less than 4-years. They were just rattling loose and I had to get them both replaced. I expected better quality from the clamps.

AWE definitely louder with flaps open and with flaps closed at idle you can hear it more. WOT it's significantly louder then CTS and hear the bubbles way more inside when flaps open. But RS6 Perf has less sound material in the front, so that might also be a factor. Also AWE has "proprietary parabolic ReflecTip™ design amplifies exhaust note towards the driver" which I can see it being more loud inside vs CTS.
