Hard crank on first start up

What’s going on folks. Picked up an S5 SB this week. Absolutely loving it so far. Coming from a BMW, my mind is blown by how much better this car is.

My only issue (right now) is the car take a little while to crank over when first turned on in the morning. I’m thinking it’s the battery. Anyone else encounter anything similar?

Get the battery voltage checked. It shouldn't take much to turn over. What year is your S5?
    Current: 2024 BMW M3 Competition xDrive | 2022 Audi Q7
    Gone: 2022 Audi RS5 | 2020 BMW M340i | 2019 Audi RS5

It’s a 2018 w/ 19k miles. I have an obd11 on the way. I’ll swing by a local independent to get the voltage checked. Thanks!

Also a simple question, have you driven it far enough to charge the battery? Perhaps it sat for awhile before you took delivery.

Great point. I’ll keep driving it and see what happens between now and when I take it in to get looked at.

Does it crank slower or does it take more turns to fire up? Mine does the latter and I read something about a check valve that can go bad on the low pressure side of the fuel system. There's a TSB for it I think.

It seems like a little of both. I’ve got an appointment with Audi for some recall work and will ask them about that TSB. Thanks!

Update- got the car back from the dealer today. It was the battery. Tech said it was reading at 60% charge. Charged up and good to go.

Update to the update. Car is still exhibiting the same issues. Taking it back to the dealer tomorrow. Hoping I didn’t make the wrong call switching over from a Bimmer…. Lol.
