Hi, I don't mean to be difficult but what might some of those differences be

EDITED: I understand from Matt that the S mode is simply a touchier throttle and the exhaust valves are always open.

Yeah Matt offered different tune files with different throttle maps before. Now the latest tune file does not have throttle maps, but you use the S button instead. I do not know what the other changes are, but everything seems smooth, even at idle and cold start.

To preface this, IÂ’ll say my throttle calibration preference would be stock pedal input to torque ratio, but with a lower smoothing factor than stock sport mode.

After a few weeks on the new tune IÂ’ve reverted back to a prior revision. The new one is too dulled on the initial throttle application off idle.
A number of times pulling off from a stop, IÂ’ve bogged down like I have a bunch of fat friends in the car. Hard to say without logging whether the issue is with the amount of torque requested per throttle pedal input, or the smoothing factor that rounds the edges off of inputs.
I think the overall objective was to smooth things out, which was very successful, but I think it was taken a degree too far.
The prior revision that IÂ’m running now requires a lighter touch (too light honestly) when taking off from a stop, and also when cruising with small pedal modulations. It feels less linear than the new revision, but IÂ’ll make that trade off as itÂ’s easier to get going in first gear.
The Goldilocks throttle calibration is somewhere between the two, imo.

Quick update. My deflapped car has had the tune since May 2023 and I’ve been happy with it. The only issue was the high RPM issue at start up I described above, which was minor. I took my car for its annual NYS inspection a few days ago and it failed readiness. Jackal was super responsive, suggested to update to the latest version and try again. That fixed the readiness issue, the car passed, AND it also fixed the cold start issue I was having for a year. Good job Jackal! I do agree with the above poster that it’s a bit too smooth now even in sport mode (even though I was on the stock not aggressive throttle map before). I feel it mostly when I blip the throttle to downshift, but to be fair, I have not driven the car much since updating it and it’s been hot here.

Is the latest software still the one from last October? I’ve again cycled through a couple of the tune revisions I have and reaffirmed my previous feelings that none have a Goldilocks throttle calibration, especially in the first bit of pedal travel that is used for pulling off.

A few have been updated but for the most part, unless we get feedback that something needs addressed, updates will remain

For an inexperienced guy, is it fairly simple to install? Is there an instruction video somewhere, or step by step directions for a newbie who has never plugged anything into a car? I wouldn't even know where to plug it in!!
