I'm posting here as this forum is more active. The story goes that I just acquired a 2014 Audi A6 with a broken 3.0T engine today as the previous owner gave up on it. Mileage is ~135K. He had it diagnosed at an indy shop and they quoted $15K+ to drop in a used engine, but may be more after they tear things apart. This seems a bit high and won't be worth the cost of repair. I would like suggestions on the fair market cost to replace the engine and possibly other components to get this thing running normally again. I'm thinking/willing to pay around $5-7K all-in, if this range is reasonable.

Here is the diagnostic report from the indy shop. I'm assuming replacing with a used engine is easier than a full rebuild? Can anyone recommend an Audi mechanic shop in SoCal that can perform this task (at a reasonable price)? All suggestions/feedback are welcome!
