So I’m new here and I recently bought a 2004 Audi allroad 2.7t I love this car, but I have a major problem. I can drive it around town and it does fine, I take it on longer trips and the car just stalls like someone took the key and shut it off. I have replaced the timing belt, the water pump the ac pump, both cam shaft sensors the speed sensor. I am at a loss I have ptsd from driving this car not knowing when it’s just going to shut off. Other then just shutting off the car seems to run just fine. Any help is greatly appreciated.

"Are you actually asking that question.. Just don't even post on my thread. why do I need to lie on an Audi forum about me fucking two bitches at once. (not literally) yes i did, you are late to the party.
and this thread has ran out of gas. I just wanted to tell people about my experience I had 2 nights ago and felt like sharing it with my fellow B6'ers. And I thank the people who didn't hate."

When you say speed sensor, which one are you talking about? Where is it located? My thought is the crank position sensor.

What happens when you try to restart the engine?

Does it do this while stopped? Or while you're driving? My allroad had a bad battery and on the way to/from getting a new one (on the highway), it was literally shutting off and the engine rotation was turning it back on while I was driving on the highway.

When I let the car sit for a bit 30 minutes or so it starts back up and seems to run fine. There are no codes. It’s while I’m driving. I’m sorry I am new to the page and am trying to figure it out. If I am posting in the wrong spot please let me know where I should be posting. Thank you.

Post in the C4/C5 A6/allroad forum. I’m also thinking the coolant temp sensor in the hard pipe in the back of the engine as well as fuel pump. It would be helpful if you can scan the car.

And welcome! C5 allroad is a great platform!

Why are you lying to her??? C5 allroad is the biggest money pit i've ever seen. Tons of issues. Between air springs failing, air compressors failing and issue with the 2.7T I would say run the other way. Sorry my honest opinion is that allroad will leave you broke and unsatisfied take it from someone whos been turning the wrench on these cars for some time. The most common cause of your issue in those cars has always been the ecm. Ask anyone who owns a b5 s4,c5 a6 or c5 allroad. Ideally you want to scan it for codes but I would not be surprised if the ECM is your issue as the issue occurs during driving and then after a short cool down cycle all is well again. Best of luck you've been warned.

I don't recall any of the coolant sensors preventing my car from turning on; that said, I didn't have any sort of temperature reading from one of them, but the car would run/drive fine.

Never had an ECM issue with mine ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
