Need help wiring a walbro 450 fuel pump

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hello. Was trying to figure out what the four wire on the pump are so that I may splice them into the walbro pump. Does anyone know how to do this or have a wiring diagram for the fuel pump

I don't know wtf that is but it is definitely not a b8 fuel pump wiring harness in left photo

Electric is not my bailiwick, so can't be much help beyond this...

    B8.0 uses a 2-wire single phase pump.
    B8.5 uses a 4-wire three phase pump.

At smac so what does that mean in terms of wiring. I realize one wire has to be positive and the other negative so what would be the other 2. The colors of the wiring diagram do not match the pump

You need to read up on what single phase pump vs three phase pump means. https://youtu.be/LqgxAG-KUe0?t=1110

You have a 2013 A4 allroad according to the profile. So that's B8.5, which means it uses the three phase VDO pump. So the B8.0 pump controller takes the 12v power and the PWM command from the ECM and turns that into a single phase powering of the Bosch single phase pump. The B8.5 pump controller takes the same but turns it into a three phase powering of the VDO three phase pump. Thus three wires and ground. If your aftermarket pump is a single phase, you're not going to be able to drive it using the B8.5 pump controller.

As for the wiring colors, the wiring diagram documents the wiring harness. To the plug that connects to the pump. Your pics are of the wiring "inside" the pump; the wiring diagram does not document "into" components. You'd have to backtrack the four wires to the connector on the top to see which is on which pin. The wiring diagram says pin 4 is ground, but it doesn't explain which of the three other pins are phase V, phase U, and phase W.

Can you replace the B8.5 pump controller with a B8.0 pump controller to get a single-phase pump output? I don't know. It's not a complicated system, but I don't remember if the PWM switching frequency changed with the B8.0 to B8.5 transition.

    B8.0
    1 - + to pump
    2 - ground to pump
    3 - 12v from fuse
    4 - ground to chassis
    5 - PWM from ECM

    B8.5
    1, 2 ,3 - + to pump
4 - ground to pump and to chassis
    5 - 12v from fuse
    6 - PWM from ECM

I was future proofing as my pump was failing. My fuel sensor level was no longer working and I was getting misfires when pushing the car hard. I also bought the piston upgrade for the HPFP from 034 as everyone seems to have great things to say about that product vs autotech. I bought one for my GLI from IE and it was a great upgrade hoping it will do the same for my Allroad. I was looking at the boss 600 kit but maybe now I'll just go with turbo cts k04 hybrid kit and just run it with APR stage 3 tune software it seems. I guess my project GLI 2006 will now get a new fuel pump lol. I installed the fuel pump feels better. Live and learn.

You can do just over 400whp on the stock LPFP with HPFP piston upgrade and S3/R injectors.

You can do 370ish whp on the stock HPFP with S3/R injectors

KO4 will max out around 300-330 with the stock fuel system.

Boss500 can be tuned to above 450whp (with even larger injectors) without tons of lag, but you might question how long on stock internals.

That said, did you start to have misfires after the 034 piston install? Have you logged HPFP pressure?

Sorry didn't see the post on my phone JLAllroad. I tried upgrading my fuel injectors but s3 injectors did not fit my harness so I had to go with stock e85 injectors. Do people just change the harness? No I have not installed the 034 HPFP only installed a new LPFP today. Will wait till next weekend as I had to stuff to do this weekend and I wasted my time trying to figure out the LPFP lol. I will try and use VCDS to log a before and after. Thanks for the video smac 770 really explained alot.

Why are you trying to run fueling upgrades on an OTS tune?

What do you mean by working properly? I have stock internals for the HPFP atm. But when using the 034 some odd jerky problems arose.
    I’m on unitronic currently….
REALLY wanting to snag a HPtuner cable and unlock my CPMB. And my ZF8
