    ****Muffler Delete People****

Hey Guys, sorry for the noob question, but wanted to get insight for muffler delete possibility with my 2016 C7.5........

My decision is to delete - but my questions are the following:
    1. When you delete the muffler - do you straight pipe it to the diffuser tips?
    2. Is there any concern with the straight pipe melting the rear diffuser?
    3. any pictures of final set ups?

I ask because I love the lines of the OEM rear diffuser with the hex light tips - clean lines.

hopefully my ask makes sense. - any help/insights - thank you so much in advance.

Not sure what you have for a car... 3.0T or 4.0T

    Either way, hope this helps

    1) Most cut before the rear muffler and straight-pipe, with tips at the diffuser
    2) Zero concern - heat shielding is already in place where the hotter areas are; rear diffuser is not one of those areas, since in stock form, there is the same amount of heat
    3) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSqPKDn8rzk. Also read through this: https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...light=poor+man

Most people remove the front resonators and middle suitcase, adding an X or H pipe. To me, removing the front resonators adds this high pitch raspy noise, that I am not a fan of - after all, the purpose of the resonators is to do exactly that... remove the high frequency noises.

Oh, if you have the 4.0T, you'll want to get Exhaust Valve Simulators (sold by a forum member here). These turn off the soft codes that you will get for not having the valved exhaust hooked up

Idk if you are on 3.0T or 4.0T but ive had both and I can say dont touch those baby resonators

unless you are going aftermarket or something. This goes for 3.0T especially. Itll sound raspy. Rear Muffler delete on 3.0t is the perfect touch imo if you arent trying to change out much. It sounds better and still has a deep tone with minimal drone, but its not that loud, if loud is what you're going for its not loud, just decent.

A6 here. I had the rear mufflers removed, straight piped, and new tips welded on. You can't reuse the existing tips because they are fake so you'll need new tips. It sounds good but it does drone so be prepared.

Long time since I did this (sold car due to rod knock at 74K miles) but I deleted and welded in some pipe with some tips - nothing fancy.. No issues with melting. Here is my video (my son's youtube channel). Shift in manual mode to stay out of the drone zone.

this is awesome - thank you so much for the insight and recommendations - puts my mind at ease - appreciate it - i'm assuming if i cut before the rear muffler and straight pipe it - there are no sensors or anything to be concerned about or foresee any errors? thank you so much again

thank you so much for the helpful insight here as well - I agree - from the sound of simplicity and from what I heard from feedback - with my 3.0T - just getting rid of the rear muffler is the perfect amount. Not looking for loud at all, but looking for something more - appreciate this

Depends what you have for a platform... 4.0t or 3.0t... I mentioned the simulators above

As others have mentioned, just be forewarned about the potential for drone. This engine/tranny combo is notorious for droning when you alter the stock set up. Having said that, what's acceptable to your ears is purely subjective as with an increased exterior noise level, you can expect an increased cabin noise level.
After experimenting with customizing stock exhaust, I ended up getting an AWE Touring. Even with their resonated downpipes to tone it down a notch, i find there's still a bit of undesirable low-rpm drone in certain load conditions. I believe this might be more audible on the A7 chassis due to the open hatch area.
Good luck dialing it in as some noise certainly makes them more fun!

anyone have recorded "drone" sound that they are not happy with? I know its subjective, but just curious as to what to expect. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Tough to get on recording it's more an air pressure thing

Agreed, nearly impossible to distinguish minor/moderate drone from the exhaust sounds/enigine/supercharger whine in recordings.
