He just mentioned that if the redline was increased that it could cause extra pressure due to higher rpm. I'm just a guy who buys stuff and asks questions later.

The valves were replaced twice and it seemed to happen after beating on it 140+

Any other ideas why that would happen? Just curious.

For me Mustonen hits the nail on the head. I purchased a tune that was supposed to deliver "up to 384 Hp and 499 FT-LBS" and best of all doesn't need a TCU tune. What i actually received was a tune limited to 384 FT-LBS because the file " a couple that reported transmission slipping / overheat warnings, so we made the low torque file" I totally believe the tune does improve the cars drivability and having the auto stop turned off is great. But the idea that we should have to tell APR that we really want a TCU tune is just plain silly.

So the Schrader valves are what's leaking both times? If there actually is excessive pressure i would expect the pump to start leaking 1st.

Is the TCU for the C8 s7 in development? If so will there be an update flash for this lazy stage 1 tune I'm currently running?

Yes, both times on the high pressure side. After I got it "fixed" and charged the first time all was good for about 5 weeks. Then it happened again, the AC was working perfectly on my commute to work and then 0 AC when it was time to head home. I took it back to the shop, they ran the same test with the thing they hook the AC up to, and again same results. It's been fine for about a month with 0 spirited driving.

C8's don't use the 501, it's the 382+. If you search, there are tunes out there for it.

Yes thereis 1 for the DL382+

TVS I believes offers one. Darkside Developments says they offer one, but when I emailed them they do not.

Their website advertises it when you shop by model. So maybe they're full of it.

ItÂ’s been almost two years and still no TCU tune from APR. Looking at what everyone has been saying IÂ’m scared to get the tune now and donÂ’t want to get it with a low torque file as there is no fun in that. Those who have the tune and have the high torque file how has that been treating you all so far as we are approaching 2025 with no updates to a tcu tune

Mine has been running fine day to day use, stop and go hard launches are not an issue with mine.

But cant say i've been driving it too spirited on highway since the few trans warnings. Those all happened to me on highway, aggressive high speed from-a-roll dickery where I'm dumping the accelerator and asking the trans to downshift hard at speed....in successive sequences..for a period of time. That's been my experience, had 3 or so messages in 2 yrs. Never bricked the car, car resumed normal after a restart. Twice it resulted in some sort limp mode that resulted in stopping and a restart, another was a high trans oil temp warning.

So basically its still a fun GT daily with that limitation, just cant beat it up like a sports car and high speed chaser IME.

Subscribing to this thread since I am extremely interested in getting the APR Stage 1 ECU Tune and the CAI for my 2019 Audi A6 Quattro 3.0T, but like most of us not trying to replace my transmission so patiently waiting (trying to at least) for a TCU tune.

Just out of curiosity I reached out to APR tech support and Garrett Dixon was the rep who responded to me - I asked if based on my box code I would automatically be getting the limited torque file or the one with gains advertised on the website and if they have been receiving complaints regarding the transmission malfunction warnings. His response was "We do have a Low TQ Stage 1 file available for your box code. We have had a few, not many complaints regarding a transmission malfunction fault code relating to a non LOW TQ stage 1 file tune on this box code ECU." which I interpret as having the option of getting full torque or the low torque file. I'm personally still not sold on it.

I also took the opportunity to ask if they had any updates on the TCU tune and the response was "As far as TCU development and our progress with it, unfortunately I cannot comment on or give any concrete dates as to future availability"....now that moves my optimism needle down.

@Arin - are you able to at least confirm if the TCU tune is still being worked on or has APR scratched it for other priorities?

Also noob question for all - how would the TCU help prevent the damage to transmission?

We can only work on so many things at once and this isn't something that's active at the moment. But that doesn't mean it's scratched from our development list. When the time comes, I'll be reaching out to get a car in house for tuning.

Hello, everyone! I am new here. Just installed the APR Stage 1 93 octane tune with the Low Torque file on my 19 A6 Quattro 3.0t. My initial impressions, I wasn’t even sure if it had been installed hadn’t it been for my Auto Stop function defaulting to on. Normal driving feels like stock but more responsive. Brake boosting and launching the car is where this tune shines. You can certainly feel more power and torque with your butt dyno. I’ve hard launched the car about 2-3 times and haven’t received any error or warning codes. Highway pulls feel stronger as well. There’s a subtle exhaust crackle that can be heard with your window down. That leaves me yearning for a AWE Exhaust. When and if APR releases a TCU tune, I’ll be changing to the High Torque file and giving impressions. Will be posting acceleration runs soon. Stay tuned!

I recorded a launch today. 60 degreees Fahrenheit outside temp. Tell me what you guys think the 0-60 mph time was. It felt like low 4s. Definitely faster than stock.

    Update:

Here’s a late night pull I did. Sorry for the beginning, the launch almost knocks the phone outta my hand lol

So I caved and went got the low tq version via Ultralink. Performance difference is noticeable and makes for a better driving experience. I haven’t really been able to do too much with it since roads have been mostly snow covered around here since I got it.

It isn’t at all clear when getting it which file you ended up getting, or it wasn’t to me. I called and asked and was told I got the low tq version, and the rep (who was knowledgeable and helpful) was pretty firm that I don’t want that higher tq version until they get a TCU tune done. He did share that they’re working on it but timing on a thing like that isn’t something they can predict, at least not with where they are right now in the process. Supposedly I can go back to ultralink and switch to high tq if I want to… haven’t decided if I want to do that and roll those dice or not.

With the purchase of that ultralink, I sort of read the website as I’d buy the ultralink for $150 or whatever and then tune would be approximately that much less, but the $150 was just on top of the normal tune price when I actually purchased that. I went back to read the website and it’s still a bit confusing. Anybody else get the same out of all that? @Arin: there might be an opportunity to make that more clear, unless I was overcharged….

@arin it seems myself and other people have spoke with other APR reps and they’re all saying that a TCU tune is in the works. Can you confirm if that is indeed true? When and if it does release, will I be able to switch to the high torque file at no-cost?

Roadmap, plans, yes. Active, as in we have a car here, and there are engineers actively tuning it, no.

Switching to high torque at no cost: yes.

seems in Europe, they are able to tune the TCU and ECU on the C8

found someone on FB who did it (A6 55TFSI 340HP) and has now 420hp and 647nm (approx. 477 lbs), he has it since early October 2024 and told me he didn't have any issue with the trans, no message on dashboard)
