Acceleration Hesitation From Stop (stock, no tune)

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Howdy.

I've noticed that randomly when driving if I come to a complete stop, and then do a moderately-hard pull, the car will hesitate for a few seconds, and then lurch forward and accelerate. No thunking or any out of the ordinary sounds. It just feels like I'm stalled while I see the RPMs rise for a few seconds and then it accelerates as I expect.

The car is stock, automatic, no tune, no CEL, HPFP was replaced ~35k miles ago by previous owner, fuel filter ~20k mi by previous owner. I had a random misfire on a cold start a few months ago, checked the plugs and they weren't fouled... Replaced the plugs (PFR7S8E) and coil packs (07K905715G) anyways and have not had any misfires since, but still experience the hesitation every once in a while.

I've had the car for about 10k miles now, but have not checked the cam follower; searching the other threads with similar problems, it seems like it could be a culprit, but I'm also curious if there are other things that I should also keep in mind as I look around.

EDIT: Most likely the torque converter, makes the most sense.

Is it basically just getting rolling with 1st then immediately shifting to 2nd? Or slow to get moving with just 1st?

    1. Slow to get moving in 1st.
    2. No codes, will add the VCDS logs when I get to the computer. (That’s the weirdest part, I would’ve guessed something would’ve been triggered)

Seems kind of like a massive heat soak if you don't have codes. Maybe try wand washing your radiator and side intercoolers.

Can ignore the Radio-related one, as I put in a Sony headunit, but that's the only code that I've got lol.

    Is it automatic ??
If you see the revs rising but car isn't a acelerating the torque converter is not hooking up.

Ahh shit, you know what... yes, it is. I remember last winter I was seeing some RPM surging (most noticeably after cold start and using cruise control to monitor)...

I think you're right. And I remember searching the forum on the TC and how sometimes even replacing it doesn't solve the problem lol. Just something to live with I guess

Thats a little different issue. That "hunting" when the revs will "bounce" 100-200 rpms while cruising, on light throttle. Trans service can help sometimes, did with mine, but still does it a little when really cold. A new/rebuilt TC will fix that issue. I'm installing a Vast TC while my engine is out, should hold up much better. But your issue sounds very different.
