How to fasten "Fresh Air" hose?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
ECS has an excellent description for this hose and says, "It bolts to the cylinder head between coils 2 and 3."

Can anyone post a photo with this hose properly installed? Thanks

Most cars don't even have it. Not sure if they did something different when they got rid of it.

The hose just attaches to the vent port on the N316 solenoid that passes vacuum to the intake manifold actuator. They added the atmospheric vent port when earlier years were developing failure due to moisture build up. If they've removed the hose, the port is likely just there with no tube attached.

See the above Audi service bulletin, showing publish date: April 19, 2016. It covers MY ranging from 2010 to 2016. The VW technical bulletin covers MY from 2008 to 2017. Dealers might've installed them whenever a covered model comes in for service. 2016 was the start of B9 with a newer engine, so it's quite possible that this mod was never in factory stock.

The change was introduced on the CPM Gen2 flex-fuel engines. The CAE Gen2 gas engines used the original style solenoid. The VW doc refers to the Gen1 transverse gas engine CCTA (or Cali emissions variant CBFA).

There's no mysteries here. You either have a dual port N316 (037 906 283 C) or a triple port N316 (06H 906 283 B). If the latter, you should have the vent hose running up to and mounted on top of the engine.

I can't view the bulletin link for some reason but SMAC makes sense. mine was a fully dealer serviced car its entire life and doesn't have it. None of my friends have it and none of us have flex fuel cars.

@Theiceman Phone browsers don't open PDF link well. Try tab and hold the link and pick download, then open the downloaded PDF. I am on my laptop most of the time, and Chrome and FireFox view PDF directly.
