2005 Audi A6. Problem: GPS was working but now it has no satellites. I assumed the issue is a water-damaged shark fin. The labor associated with replacing the actual fin is huge. Video here says just replace GPS antenna which can be placed anywhere. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twVFVEt3Lkc . A few hours of research I think I learned that the actual part using the GPS antenna isn't in the front of the car, but the back. Anyway, I ordered this product:

I think that the place where the GPS signal plugs in is in the back of the bottom rack unit where the green arrow points:

You might be able to remove the blue cable without doing any uninstalling at all if your hand is small enough to go through the bottom rack, press lever, and pull out the jack. And, in theory, the Navigation unit can be removed by pressing in on the orange tabs and pulling out. In reality, the cables in the back prevent it, so you can remove the four 10mm nuts on the top, side, and front. You can then push up and the bottom out to see a blue gps cable adapter. Press the tab in, pull out/remove what's there and plug in the GPS antenna from ebay.

The one I got only had 50 cm (1.6 feet) of wire, so it was too short. Even so, I decided to test it by putting the antenna as close to the center of the trunk as was possible. But, the test still showed zero satellites. That's the mystery. My experience is that so long any any part of the sky has a line of sight to the GPS antenna, it will show at least one satellite.

I need to order a unit with a longer antenna cable. But, before I do, I need to solve the mystery of why this antenna isn't picking up any satellites.

Is this the wrong impedance, or voltage? Any ideas? It is very inexpensive. Like $7.59. Where's my mistake?

HELP!
