Update - Bosch/ATP sport passenger display install

First things first - The install on a B9.5 with the larger MMI screen is different than the B9 with the smaller screen. On the B9, you can "sneak" the panels around the MMI off (which exposes screws beneath) without displacing/moving the MMI screen. On the B9.5, you have to "un-bolt" the MMI screen, and swing it up on to the dash.

That being stated, on the B9.5, you need to pop this panel on the back of the screen to expose the two 10MM bolts for the screen.

Said panel below - I think Audi designed this as a "single-use" item because I can't for the life of me see how you could possibly get it out in one piece or without breaking the clips. I ordered a replacement for the re-installation, with shipping it was less than $15 from genuineaudiparts.com

MMI screen "unbolted" and swung up onto the dash. Not necessary to disconnect the electronics to the screen.

Dash broken down - In this photo, I had already removed the "dummy vent" from the vent/trim chassis

    Contents of the kit

Another picture of the fully broken down dash. Note, I did not fully disconnect the glove box or fully remove it from the vehicle. There's a pyro/airbag connector at the bottom of the glovebox that I didn't want to mess around with. I kept the pyro/airbag connector intact, lowered the glovebox, and worked around it.

Mounting the screen to the vent chassis. T10 screws hold the supplied brackets in place to secure the screen. On the back, I used zip-ties and quite a bit of Tesa high-heat harness tape to additionally secure the wiring (no rattles)

Ready to go back in the car!!!

I can confirm that the "brain box" for the MMI system does have the quad-lock connector in the B9.5, even though the "brain" no longer has SD card slots or a CD drive.

Inline harness adaptor installed. ECU for the MMI mounted back up under the dash and wiring pigtails routed out to connect to the screen.

Going back together. It works (duh, why wouldn't it?)

Final product - I'll get some better pictures during the day - I can also confirm a perfect install (no rattles).

    Stay tuned!

I ordered and received a set of shifter paddle extensions from DSG-paddles as they looked great on the Nemesis Ascari car.

Stock "RS-Extended" paddles on the RS6/RS7 RS Design wheel

Ended up using an alcohol wipe to prep the surface

    Installed - They look great!

First of, great looking car! And awesome mods. Love how you take close up pictures of everything you do, will help out a lot of people that try to do something of those mods them self.

I checked your youtube profile for more videos of your car and sound of it. Just wanted to make sure if i get this right, you have original downpipe with GPF/OPF in it? Or US cars dont have GPF/OPF installed on your downpipes? Can you maybe take picture of your downpipe? And you only put Bull-X Resonator Delete Pipes on it and got that nice sound? Oh and valve control.

I have 2019 prefacelift RS5 but it came with GPF/OPF already installed. Now im looking how to make more sound out of it. Bull-X Resonator Delete Pipes is cheap compared to downpipes with GPF delete so im thinking of going with this, but im afraid if later i get downpipe aswell i might end up with TO much sound.

Thank and keep up with great posts.

As far as I know.... US cars do not have a GPF equipped.

Been awhile - A bit of an update. The shift paddle extensions are great.

Also, I picked up the new fancy APR CF engine cover.

I'm one of the several that have been cursed with "detailers eyes." As several others have noticed, the cover comes with some surface scratching. It seems to be due to a packaging defect.

I taped it up, and did a correction

    Corrected

Made up a template to transfer the RS and rings from my factory cover. Turns out, the rings are an orderable part number. Unfortunately, the RS badge are not. Another fun fact, the RS badge is 3 pieces (not a standard 2 piece like on the hatch). Trimmed off the pins on the back then used a combination of standard 3M emblem adhesive and also the newer 3M "press-and-stick."

Ceramic coated with "Wax is dead" heat (designed for wheels, calipers, and under engine componentry).

Final product installed. It's extremely attractive with all of the other CF goodies.

Stay tuned. Starting to get the power itch :)

Looks great. I saw that cover and fell in love too but I want to get wheels first. I'm also eye balling stepping up stages late this year or early next year. I'm waiting to see if anything else gets developed for our platform.

    It all looks great.

Thanks, Ben! Appreciate the help getting this sourced and procured as well. May need to give you a ring next month about some Wagner bits. I’m thinking it’s about time to get this thing prepped for some bigger Wu-Tang war whistles.

I’ll shoot you an email when I’m ready to pull the trigger ;)

New label-less sun visors showed up. Thank you Mops@Nemesis!!!

    Before

The EU visors (I believe they're from the EU? or RoW) not only do not have the "idiot label" on them, they also have a nifty little card holder to hold insurance, reg, etc. That was a nice surprise.... will probably never use them LOL

    Afters

Stay tuned. Starting to get the more power itch. Kicking around buying the Wagner setup to prep for the next batch of updates. Anyone have any experience with their (Wagner) kit?

There’s not much to say about the Wagner kit (heat exchanger + intercooler) other than it works really well. If you track your car or take it to the drag strip it’s a must. I don’t but I got it anyway just for peace of mind since it can sometimes get really hot here in the summer.

Another update - Since I had to take an already built car over my spec'd allocation, my car never had carbon optics. I replaced the BO mirrors with OEM CF, the sideskirts with pieces from Karbel, the front splitters with Karbel pieces, and an aftermarket CarbonImports spoiler.

I have pretty much always hated the aftermarket CF front lips and rear diffusers for the B9.5 RS5.... they're just too loud, and too much.

I had looked into the OEM front carbon optics center lower piece, and OEM carbon optics rear diffuser pieces (there are 3 of them). Total came out to the tune of over $6k once shipped, taxes, etc.

    NOPE!

My detail shop/PPF guy told me STEK has a new film that looks nearly identical to OEM CF - Especially OEM CF that has PPF over the top.

    https://www.stek-usa.com/fashion-fil...ocarbon-gloss/

I figured I'd give it a shot... We could always rip it off and I could go spend $6k if I hated it. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves:

I think the results speak for themselves. A few hundred bucks and you can barely tell the difference from OEM film. We'll see how it stands up overtime. Stay tuned!!!

You have done an amazing job modding this car. A question.....

Did you notice any squeaks or rattles after taking apart the interior like you did? That is my biggest worry about doing anything to the interior. One always runs the risk of introducing squeaks and rattles when one pulls off and then replaces interior panels.

Thanks, man! It makes me happy.

I'd say this isn't the car to learn on. I cut my teeth on several B5s, a B7, and a B8.5. Also had a few MK3 GTIs in college - Great cars to learn on when you really don't care if you mess anything up.

    Standard rules apply:
    - Use all data and have information of/track which hardware goes where - Audi uses a variety/combination of machine and self-threading hardware. Both of which in varying length and sometimes diameter
    - Work slowly and smoothly
    - Pay close attention to where Audi places felt pieces of "anti rattle." These need to be retained, or you're introducing risk
    - Do not over tighten anything - Self explanatory

I learned on stuff that made noise regardless. Not sure I would have had the guts to try any of this on the RS5 had I not gained the experience on other platforms over the past 15+20 years.

If anything, my car makes *LESS* noise than an OEM one. I've added some sound deadening in some areas that never had any, and also anchored more wires than ever were from the factory.

    Have fun!

Next up - P3 V3 gauge (in factory vent), P3 ethanol signal voltage adapter (ESVA), inline GM ethanol content/fuel temp sensor, and some custom wiring harnesses made by yours truly.

First step, unboxing and swapping trim panels. The RS5 has glass black trim where it seems to be satin black soft touch plastics on other models. I opted to go with the gauge pre-installed into a new factory vent. I wasn't concerned about butchering my factory vent, but wanted everything to function flawlessly if I ever took the gauge back out (I've seen some issues with vents not functioning correctly when you put the "fins" back in). Didn't bother me at all that I needed to swap trims.

Next step, building the harness that will go through the firewall to the ethanol/fuel temp sensor.

Next up, building the harness that goes between the "brain box" and the ethanol signal voltage adapter (ESVA). Goal was to get everything soldered, and be left with 4 pig tails; 1 going to OBDII port, 3 going to ethanol content/fuel temp sensor under the hood (12V+, ground, signal wire).

Brain box and ESVA taped together with Tessa tape. I've seen some others use zip ties and what not, this seemed cleaner to me and would allow the double sided tape a "flatter" surface to bond.

3M double sided tape will be used to secure the brain-box and ESVA to the top of the knee-bolster cubby.

    https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.aud...0d2717755d.jpg

Routing the cable between the sensor and the ESVA through the firewalls and into the cabin.

    Into the car!

Next was re-installation of everything, connect the 4 leads, and flip through a few settings to get the analog inputs reading ethanol content and fuel temp.

I put in about 1 gallon of E85 just to confirm that it would read ethanol content (it does). At engine operating temp, fuel temps run around 85-88F degrees (which is good) at ~60F degrees ambient (fun fact).

Mounting of the sensor inline using a Dorman straight quick connect and a Dorman 90 degree quick connect. I put heat protection wrap on the back of the sensor as extra protection even though I'm really not concerned. Being a "hot mounted" V, there isn't as much heat in this area of the bay compared to a traditional TT car. I can put a thermal temp gun on this if anyone is curious?

I retained the clips that hold the two fuel lines together meaning I didn't need to come up with a bracket to "hard mount" the sensor. The two lines provide more than enough support/structural rigidity. Oetiker clamps were used to secure once I got the fuel lines positioned where I wanted them.

Last up - Need to run this thing out of fuel! Got a little under half a tank left, then flipping over to E85, 034MS STG1+ ECU tuning, and STG2 TCU. We've got dang good E85 here (around 83% on the manual test I ran over the weekend at my closest station).

More power coming soon. Stay tuned!

Looking good. Same mod I did. I like it a lot more than the Fuel It app but it comes at a price literally.

More expensive for sure. I just didn’t feel like logging into a phone everytime I wanna check fuel quality. Having a constant reminder actively lets me know if something is “off.” For me, it’s worth it. To quote Ferris, “if you have the means, I highly recommend it.”

Welp - Finally decided to add more power.

034 Motorsports Stg II TCU tune

Ran the tank down to about 1/8 remaining and fueled up with E85 (less than $3 in San Jose which is insane).

Flashed the car to 034 Motorsports Stg I+ (E85, HPFP upgrade installed)

Car is completely transformed. Almost scary fast. I love it to death. Ran to work to take a few pictures after some mandatory rips on the new fuel/software.

Lastly, I learned that the Cete AVC does not play nicely with tunes that change the programming for the exhaust valves. Will need to remove the Cete AVC as a result. Will likely have one up for sale, soon.

    Stayed tuned, always evolving!

Just a heads up to those of you with aftermarket exhaust valve controllers. Unfortunately, they don't function with some tunes and will throw a soft code once the software is installed.

I was running a Cete AVC in tandem with 034 Motorsport Stg I+ (E85) and Stg II software. My valves were no longer controllable via drive select, so I reached out to 034. To quote James from 034, "If this is an aftermarket electronically operated exhaust valve controller, it is likely affecting the operation of the stock exhaust valves, and should be removed when your vehicle is flashed with Dynamic+ software, as it is no longer necessary."

Removed my Cete AVC and reverted back to "stock" for the exhaust valves. Everything now functions as intended. Gave the AVC to the tech that removed it as a "thank you."

Car is FAST. Stay tuned, I'm sure I'll have more up my sleeve here soon.

Yeah, those are them. I bought “black” version but they’re not very dark at all. I had a local tint shop put tint on them to darken them so they look like the originals and better match the dark headlights on the RS5. I’ve had the tint on for 3 years with weekly touchless car washes and the tint hasn’t come off or even started to peel.

Got caught at a local car show in Cupertino a few weeks ago. Did a wheels off detail, converted the rusty hubs, re-coated the wheels, brake calipers, PPF, and glass. Will have a larger update in regards to that.

That's a nice group of pictures. Car show season starts here next month and maybe I can finally get caught myself. Spring detail day is my favorite day. Something so satisfying about a deep clean like that getting the undercarriage, suspension, and wheel wells vs a normal wash. I hope to do mine in a couple weeks.

Welp, completed the 2 year refresh detail on the car.

Car was washed and clayed, then the wheels were removed. Wheels, wheel liners, and any suspension piece we could touch/see without lifting the car was sprayed, brushed, and rinsed using the following products. We also gave a deep clean to the floormats

    Adam's Wheel Cleaner
    Adam's Tire and Rubber Cleaner
    Adams Under Carriage Spray
CG Rubber + Vinyl Floormat Renew

Axle nuts were rust converted when the wheels were off with the following product (Seymore Rust Converter)

    Before

Afters - Wheels (faces and barrels) and calipers were deep cleaned, received an ISO wipe down, then were re-coated with Wax is Dead Heat ceramic coating.

The PPF on the car was given a 1 step polish to remove any remaining ceramic coating from the application 2 years ago (was previously G-Technic Halo). Car was then re-coated using Wax is Dead Ultra ceramic coating. Heat Ceramic coating was re-applied on of the under-hood carbon as well.

    Thing absolutely pops.

Stay tuned. Have one more update I need to snap some pictures of as well as give an update on something that's in transit from Alcoa, TN

They have been ceramic coated since 70 miles of ownership. Get them super clean, do an Isopropyl wipe, apply coating. Good to roll.
