Recently got a P0023 code and was going to pull the oil control solenoid to test and clean it but can't find it..! Does anyone know where it is located. I did find a broken clip on the exhaust cam angle sensor for bank 2 so I'm hoping that was the issue, but i want to test the oil control solenoid just to cover all bases.

    P0023
Exhaust Camshaft Position Actuator Circuit Response Check (Bank 2)
    Signal voltage 4.70 - 5.40 V

You mean the VVT solenoid and control valve on the bank 2 exhaust? Because that seems to be what the P code points at. If there was a physical operation issue, such as a problem with oil which drives the system, I'd expect a P0024 instead.

The VVT solenoids are on the backside of the cylinder head, on the chain covers. I'm not sure the control valves can be pulled out without taking things further apart, unlike on the 2.0T.

Thanks, yes I ended up talking to the part guy at my local dealer and pulling up thier diagrams. It appears as if I just need the "magnet" part of the solenoid and a new plug that I can repin. The control valves are under the camshaft "magnet" solenoids which I ordered. It seems like the broken clip is my issue, but for only $40 I went ahead and got the solenoid just in case.
