I have a 2014 S6... as stated in the title. Pretty sure that's a C7.
I am seeing a Boost and Oil Temp gauge on the Lap Timer Dash and no Shift Light in either the HUD or Dash.
So what were you trying to say here?

1. Not all systems are the same. The 2012 A6 which was done before the 2013 S6 doesn't have a track mode because the feature didn't exist yet.
2. Not everybody has a HUD. I guess you need an S6/7, an RS6/7 or you need a fully optioned out A6/7.
3. The car in the video you posted is a C7 A6 which covers 2011-2015.
4. The C7.5 is the 2016 (and I think some 2015) to 2018 which doesn't have the same MMI and controls as the older ones. Features are now present that weren't before and some other things are probably gone.
So if someone with a 2016 (me) saw the video you linked to and has a HUD, they will go crazy trying to get it to work, unless there is a hidden VCDS feature I didn't find. So you can't really blanket statement the situation and because you have an S6, that probably even makes more of a difference. You'll notice in the video that there is an ECU tune, but the redline stayed the same. So the C7 Owner ;), doesn't have a useful shift light because it follows the factory setting of 6200-6300, when the new redline is 7400. I have a tune from APR on my 2016 and instantly the redline is only the last 3 LEDs like in my sig. The shift light barely lit the first 1-2 segments because the TCU was not modified but the redline was. Now with a Berk TCU tune, everything lines up. There are MANY people with A6 C7 ECU tunes that the redline is still showing factory limits. There are many people with no HUD in their A6.
So in my car, with the HUD on, there is no indicator on the dash when the HUD is on and there is just a thin line in it's place. Click the HUD off and there it is. I think I have to be moving for the shift light to appear on the dash but it does.
