Less is more… full engine rebuild with big turbos sounds good on paper but in practice it seems like 80% of builds end up parted out or abandoned. The ones that make it to the “well sorted” category tend to have a lot of money and time put into them. It will cost way more than you think and even if it doesn’t you’ll end up spending a lot more than you wanted to originally because of creep syndrome or while we’re in there itis.

It took about $50k ish to get mine fully built with TTE880’s, so pretty similar level to the 770’s you’re talking about. Of that, probably $6-7k was the block build alone with new 2.8 heads and valves. That also included full transmission swap, suspension, wheels, brakes, etc so not just the engine. I almost didn’t make it to the end because there were so many problems at one point… there’s a quote I think from CELison or someone else about a spider web of problems you should look up. If I didn’t have AMD Motorsports close-ish to me the build would never have seen the light of day because after a while both me and a good local shop were pretty stumped.

Spreadsheets are great but they have a way of going out the window mid build.
