Trunk's inside roof exposed and sharp

The trunk's inside roof is exposed metal and the edges of cutouts are very sharp. I have scraped my hand twice till now while taking out groceries.
Is this by design or am I missing a part? Is there some part i can order to cover it?

I have a 2017, and all the cutouts are smooth and have no sharp edges. I did notice that along the bottom of the drip edge there are some, what appear to be, spot welds that one could get scraped on. Guess you could put rubber grommets in the cutouts to keep from getting cut.

Do you have the grocery bag hooks installed? They may help with retrieving grocery bags by encouraging you to unhook the bags and keeping your hands 10-12 cms below the top of the inside trunk area. They also hold the bags further towards the rear of the car and stop them sliding forward during stops.

Well, grocery plastic bags are banned in our area. So, i have started to use those plastic totes but they are tall enough to sit close to the top of the trunk. I noticed there are small cutouts in the metal near the opening, possibly for screws or something? They are sharp enough to have scraped my hand.
If this is per design and expected, I am thinking maybe use some silicone to smooth those edges out.

Single use plastic bags are being banned here as well. The totes are taller but I just wrap the handles multiple times around the hooks I have.

Quicker way might be to just use some black electrical tape across the hole. It's on the underside so not going to be visible unless you are really looking at it from lower down on the trunk.
