RWD conversion kit

Has everyone seen the new product ECS releasing which is a RWD conversion kit? It looks like it currently will be available for the manuals. Anyone plan on getting this?

I noticed that too on ECS. I just wonder how the rear end can handle all the power as you know the people that would do this would be people that want to do weekend drifting events. Aka high abuse situations. Still very interesting, but I have no plans on getting it.

I also have no intentions on buying it as I live in an area that gets a lot of snow so the AWD is good. I was honestly just surprised to see it.

rwd probably can handle 500 hp these cars put out when modded. I do think that removing the torque from the front wheels on this platform can negatively affect handling outside of drifting etc. My understanding is that the front wheels are used to pull the car into the turn, more so than the rear wheels are used to push especially if there's no sport diff. I might be totally wrong, though, I do think that this is probably true because I've heard that according to JXB, the front differential upgrade has the most effect and front tires tend to wear quicker than rears when track driving - this part I'm not so sure about. I'd actually prefer if somebody could retrofit macan's center diff. the trans appears to be very similar, the only difference is center diff which is not permanent awd but an on-demand type with torque going to the rear wheels most of the time.

Most cars wear the fronts faster on road course because there is more weight up front. So the front tires take most of the cornering load.

true. I've probably heard that the front wear on the s4 is very egregious, but that's my speculation.

I ran a set of tires and never rotated them. The fronts had 3mm and the rears had 6mm of tread remaining after 25K. With that said, a "RWD Conversion" is some of the dumbest shit I've seen on this site.

I was also very surprised to see it lol. Can’t imagine many people will be interested in it as one of the reasons people like this car is the AWD.

Quick question, I’m not to familiar with the build differences between manual and automatic. But I noticed they are only releasing the conversion for manuals. Where would the difference be for the conversion between an automatic and manual? Just looking to learn more about our car!

These car push too much to be serious track cars. Probably 75% of the motor is hanging over the front axle. That's why your tires wear so fast and 8 control arms are needed per side, lol.

I agree tho, just the idea of converting to rwd seems crazy to me.

What a pointless mod, if you want rwd buy a proper rwd car, even a shitty mustang has better rwd dynamic than a s4. I bought an Audi because of real Quattro (won’t buy a s3/tt for that reason.

They push because of weight distribution, yes.

The tires wearing is due to the fact that the front tires do most of the braking and turning. So they receive the majority of the work.

Ball joints in-line (front to back) like our cars have provides greater stability at high speeds. It has nothing to do with weight. One Ton Dually pickup trucks that weigh 9,000 lbs only have one upper and one lower balljoint, but they do not go 160+mph.
