    Bought a broken B8

    A few weeks ago I bought a 2011 A4 2.0t with 142k for $7k. From a used car dealer. 3 weeks ago.

It has some broken pieces interior and ripped seat. I was told that otherwise the car was in good condition and to contact him with any issues.
I asked for alignment and he said it was fine after putting on new tires. Still pulls right.

Now that I have the car there are and other issues. No word back from dealer.

-Bumper cover has a repaired crack that is peeling.
    -Missing inner fender liner
-Trunk won't open with button on trunk.
    - Hood latch cable issue.
    - rarely gets up to temp
    - poor gas milage (21 average) .... Driving conservative
    - oil fouled spark plug #2
    - down a qt of oil in 650 miles.
    - 2 kinds of loud ticking

Plan to try Molly-gen and replace PCV to try and address oil consumption.

I hope it's worth fixing and doesn't need piston rings. IMG_20220212_172124.jpg

Sorry to be the barer of bad news but it more than likely needs pistons rings. These 2.0T motors are notorious for needing timing chains, pistons, turbos and looks like a list of other things you have found. By not getting up to temp would be a concern too. If the dealer would take it back I would go that route unless you really would like to keep it but not getting a response..

Not getting up to temp and poor gas mileage are related. If the engine temp is cold all the time the car will get bad gas mileage. More than likely a bad thermostat. I would be a lot more concerned with the oil consumption issue.

I know it's unknown of how long this issue was happening, but can I run it as is for a while if I am ok spending the 10$ per 600 miles? If the dealer won't take it back I want to use it for a bit then trade it in.
Maybe I can get some of my money back that way.

Driven 700 miles since I bought it.

If I can get another 1000 out of it I should be good. Got the 3rd party warranty that kicks in and will cover all engine components.

How did you go with 3rd party warranty claim? Major issues sorted out?
