Anyone done a rear view camera (RVC) retrofit with RNS-E on B5 A4/S4?

I have an RNS-E mk2 radio/navi unit retrofitted in my 2001.5 B5 S4 and thought that it would be cool to have its screen work with a rear view camera while the car is in reverse. Upon some searching in these forums and elsewhere, I was a bit bewildered by the possibilities. Some people used a kufatec camera interface to the RNS-E while others use a factory module (from various models) to accomplish this, with line markings on the screen. And then there is the possibility of integrating Audi's optical parking system (OPS) and parking distance control (PDC)...

So, if you had done any of these retrofits, I would like to hear from you, learn about what you've done, with what parts, etc.

Since no one answered, I figured everything out myself and completed the install. I wrote up an article about it (along with retrofit of RNS-E) here:

Thank you for looping back and providing a conclusion. Many folks skip this step and it makes searching for solutions that much more difficult. I have a question about your Satellite Radio (SiriusXM) setup. I assume you have an RNS-E 193 PU installed. In an unsubscribed situation, does your SiriusXM automatically allow you to listen to channels during free preview weeks and otherwise broadcast a generic channel to try to sell you a subscription? This is the way it works in our Tiguan. Our TT, however, outputs silence and grays out the channel info while giving a message to call 1-800-XXX-XXXX to subscribe.

I don’t have a Satellite radio unit in my installation. But nsxjr’s PDF article, linked from my write up, contains info about how to wire it up (it’s daily-chained to the CD changer input). I don’t think he describes how it behaves when you have no subscription though.

It depends on the car. Sometimes they are asleep and require a refresh some are just dead and some play the preview channel.
