Waking up a 2.7 after 2 years of sitting.

    Hi all,

A few years back I bought a c5 A6 (yes i know this is the s4 forum, just more info here, and I'll stick to drivetrain) I brought it back to life. At the time I did a Motoza e85 tune on the stock K03 turbos, and general maintenance. I ended up selling it to my brother. My brother has a tendency to ignore issues rather than fix them. He drove the car for 2 years, the issues got too bad and he parked it. It sat another two years until recently When i got my hands on it again, basically for free.

I have another thread about my pending turbo upgrades, but here I want to focus on bringing the car back. Im not willing to jump into bigger turbos until I know the car is mechanically sound. When i got the car, it had been sitting two years, with e85, missing the battery, and a mostly dead clutch cylinder, and a gnarly lifter tick.

This weekend, I drained the old e85 as best I could. Put fresh fuel in it, Ran it with some seafoam in the oil for a few minutes drained it, and threw in some liquimolly 5w40. The lifter tick is pretty much gone now. The clutch "Works" But its basically the very bottom of the pedal and it won't come all the way back up. I was able to drive it to the local e85 place and full the tank to dilute any remaining fuel as much as possible. The clutch started to shudder less on engagement, and the engine is running "better" It has a missfire on boost, and the more you get it into the missfire the easier it is to trigger. I have some new coils and plugs on order, which will hopefully sort that. to my knowledge they are the original coils on the car.

Next weekend I am going to swap the plugs, coils, and clean the MAF. Hopefully that fixes the missfire.

My brother also hacked the exhaust off back off the downpipes so resonator, mufflers etc are all gone. I am thinking some vibrant straight throughs for that.

    Welp,

I changed the coils and the plugs today. Didnt bother test driving it. Found a massive hole in the bottom of the Throttle Body y boot. I could stick several fingers through. I am guessing that is why it was stumbling anytime i tried to hit boost. (along with the OEM coils)
I ordered the URO parts replacement so i can drive the car for now. I plan to do the 034 boot once i swap turbos. I also found that the driver side valve cover has a very small leak. Ill probably replace it when I have the engine out. Finally, I noticed the two rear clips are missing on the factory air box. (the ones that hold the two halfs together) Hopefully some pick and pay locally has some, along with a number of missing bolts.

Installed a mishimoto boot on saturday, took it for a drive and it ran better for sure, but wasnt as fast as i remembered it. Brought it back swapped the DVs, and it started missfiring again, checked the codes with VCDS and it was throwing a MAF error. Cleaned the Maf with some alcohol based glass cleaner and it started driving great. Unfortunately, the clutch is a problem. I think i mentioned before, but its about an inch from the bottom. It slips under boost. I am hoping that swapping the slave cylinder will help (when I use my foot to pull the pedal up its better but not good). Otherwise, I suppose the car will sit until have my new turbos. Its also undriveably loud with the missing mufflers. I am going to have to resolve that.
