I thought this might be of interest for everyone...
I brought my 2018 S3 (stock) for some work before my CPO warranty ends (96k km).
One of the items reported was that the car had shudders during WOT from 4th to 5th gear between 4500 - 5500 rpm (between 160kmh - 180kmh) which happened repeatedly on the long straight on the race track. First I thought it has something to do with injectors or misfires but the tech at Audi West here in Ottawa found a TSB (2060560/1) which describes the symptoms and it says it is a transmission issue... first step they took was to take a sample of the transmission fluid and they discovered metal shavings. Then the drained all of the fluid and found more metal shavings and they confirmed that my transmission was 389 degrees hot at one point in time... Audi Canada then approved a new gearbox (in my case not just the clutch packs) which they installed over the last few days. I will be back on the track next Friday so lets see if that was it. However I am obviously very happy that I got a new transmission which came with a 2 year warranty and new fluids..
It hopefully also takes care of the 7-speed DSG (DQ381) snap out of gear issue described in the other thread. The tech confirmed that this is known and he knew about the TSB and that they transmission has the latest update.
Other than that I had a leak in the a/c which they took care of too.
I have to give a big shout out for excellent customer service from Matt from Audi West. It took a while to get that new transmission to Canada and he always kept me in the loop, answered patently my many questions and even facilitated a quick chat with the tech when I got my car back today all while I was putting 2500km onto the brand new 8Y A3 loaner they gave me (not a fan of the new cockpit)...
Now let's hope that was it for a while...
