    ACC brake guard not available?

Went to get my car service today, now show this on my dash permanently.

I don't really mind, I find brake guard is such a pain some time, just brake without a reason, I keep it off anyway. What is ACC stand for? Any con if I just leave it unrepaired?

    Any updates ...??

I went on a trip to the races at Sebring 12 hours ... My race buddy was along for the ride, and stated how fast he had been in his Corvette GS, so ... on a straight country road, out past the cow hand's bungalows ... I accelerated to 170 ... got there pretty quick and easily ...

came back to the main roadway ... tried to set the ACC ... a warning appeared "ACC and Brake Guard NOT available" ... Is the Audi mad at me for exceeding the speed limit ...??

I scanned with my ODB11 ... reset ALL faults ... still no Brake Guard or ACC ...?? ugghh

Now what ...?? turn myself into the Dealership for a fine (fee) ...??

ACC Brake Guard Not Available SOLUTION

** Link to SOLUTION that worked for me, I have been 3 weeks back in my RS7 as I wanted to validate before I made this post - happy to say NO CODES, and a SUCCESSFUL repair **

    http://circuitboardmedics.com/2015-2...camera-repair/

Recently, I encountered an unexpected challenge with my Audi during what should have been a routine oil change. As my car sat at the dealership, the camera module for the lane assist suddenly malfunctioned. This problem turned into a lengthy ordeal, lasting 92 days, but ultimately led me to a solution that I am eager to share with the Audi community.

When the issue first occurred, I had the dealership try replacing the faulty camera with a donor unit due to the back order supply chain issue. However, they faced difficulties updating the VIN on the replacement component using ODIS, the diagnostic system. To make matters worse, these specific cameras have been on backorder for nearly eight months, and recently, Audi cancelled all outstanding orders.

Left with few options from the manufacturer, I began exploring alternative solutions and discovered a repair service that specializes in electronic module repairs. This business, Circuit Board Medics, was familiar with similar issues in other automotive brands like Ford and Freightliner, often caused by the use of lead-free solder, which is more prone to breaking due to its weaker composition.

The repair process involved reflowing the Intel chip on the camera module, which communicates with the image processor. This technique effectively restored the functionality of my camera by replacing the faulty solder with a new, more durable one. The need for such repairs arises because the camera, located in the windshield, experiences temperature fluctuations that can cause the computer board to flex. Over time, this flexing can lead the weaker, lead-free solder joints to fail.

Circuit Board Medics not only fixed my camera but also used my case to create a repair service bulletin for the Audi community, which could prove invaluable for others facing similar issues. They specialize in mail-in orders, making their services accessible to Audi owners regardless of location.

I wanted to share this experience to help others who might be in a similar predicament. If you're facing issues with electronic modules in your vehicle and feeling stuck due to long backorders or lack of manufacturer support, consider looking into specialized repair services like Circuit Board Medics. Their expertise and willingness to address less common issues can be a significant relief.

For anyone interested in exploring this option, you can find more information about their services online. This resolution not only saved me from an extended period without my vehicle but also restored my faith in finding alternative solutions when traditional paths prove unhelpful. Here’s to more smooth driving and fewer unexpected service adventures!

If they took off the bumper they may have bumped a camera. I wouldn't spend a dollar for repair. I would call the advisor and complain and make them fix for free.

It may just be a recalibration issue.

You need to scan it to find out what module is causing it to be disabled. Camera module not communicating? ACC sensors not communicating or out of alignment?

If it was the camera module not communicating, I wouldn't get it repaired through circuit board medics, their price is absolutely insane for a BGA reflow, you might as well buy a new one for that price.

If it is the radar modules not communicating, I have had to repair several of these for a very interesting reason - Not all of the pins in the connector are used, and the unused holes in the connector are supposed to have plugs in them to keep moisture out. I have seen several which did not get these plugs from the factory, and water made it into the connector and eroded the power pin away. IIRC drivers side sensor is master, passenger is slave, if master goes out, slave will also not communicate. The connector on the sensor side is actually a separate assembly which can be removed, but is not available separately. If this ends up being the problem, you might be able to source the connector from a smashed radar sensor that is no longer useful, or you can replace the pins in the connector.
When I replace the pins I use 30u gold plated pins from standard .100" PCB headers, I extract the remnants of the corroded pin from the connector, cut the gold plated pin to the correct length, chamfer the cut tip, and put a small deformation and some purposefully-cut burrs in the middle of the pin where it sticks through the plastic connector body in order to retain it. It may require slight enlargement of the hole. I then use a very small amount of epoxy applied to the inside of the hole, pin inserted through the hole (and end of pin that gets contaminated with epoxy quickly cleaned with acetone and then iso) and then after cure I bend the pin if necessary such that it is in plane with the other pins. Have done this on several of these sensors with good success. The terminals on the wire harness side and the weather plugs are standard and are easy to source.

If the ACC sensors are simply out of alignment, I think the cost for a shop to align these has gone down in recent years but I usually adjust them myself, there are some writeups on the forums regarding determining which sensor is out of alignment and making small, incremental adjustments to the sensor followed by a road test in order to bring it back into alignment without needing to do a full ADAS calibration.
