    2014 Q7 TDI new owner

Hey everyone. New to the group and loving the new ride.

Have few questions maybe someone could answer for me. I picked up 2014 Q7 TDI with 100k kms I’m familiar with diesels a bit as I drove few Volkswagens on the past

    A. Should I do the delete after the warranty ?
    B. Do you guys service the transmission?
    C. Any preventive maintenance I should be looking for to do? Pulleys? Etc..

    Thanks in adjacent.

Welcome to the forums. The Q7 section is relatively quiet, but it wouldn’t be out of the ordinary to visit another section that’s more active to expand the the available brainpower for your questions.

    My suggestions for your questions:

A: preserve the warranty, so wait to make changes / tunes / deletes. It’s a very useful warranty for an aging vehicle that still has longevity.

B: I’ve had my TDI for almost two years now. I haven’t done anything with the transmission, but it’s still going smooth.

C: the TDIs are tanks, it seems. It’s pretty much been routine maintenance for me: oil changes, brakes, tires, filters. Non-routine maintenance not covered by the warranty included a new battery (needs to be coded in by the dealer, a pain) and replacement bushing for my front lower control arms. Non-routine repairs covered by the warranty included replacement AdBlue tank and pump, and new turbo inlet (was leaking).

The TDI Q7 looks like it is one of Audi’s best

    Awesome for great info.

I keep reading and absorbing all the info I can. I keep running into rear seal leaking issues. . Some say that’s it’s covered under warranty. Any idea what the cost would be once the car is out of warranty. ?

    Thanks.

    Can’t beat the torque.

I’ve had a 2013 for 1.5 years now and would also recommend keeping the extended warranty intact until it runs out. It’s provided me with all new injectors and a new turbo.

I did however get the TCU remapped to pre-dieselgate fix and it makes a significant difference in drivability. There’s a few threads on this over on the Club Touareg forum.

One issue I tried to have covered but wasn’t was the front crankshaft seal. Other than that just typical maintenance like oil changes, fuel filter, etc.

I’ve heard this, too. My understanding is that the shift points are set to a pretty low RPM for the dieselgate fix, so it always feels bogged. Plus the turbo laaaaaaaaaagggggggg is pretty bad.

I have a feeling that in a few years, we will start seeing many new tunes available.

Yeah it restores downhill engine braking, doesn’t hold gears so long while warming up and the partial throttle lag is reduced a bit.
