How do I get the SQ5 to always sound like it does on cold start?

I love the deep growl this car has on colatstart which I understand is the result of a bypass in the turbo, but after 15 seconds the sounds gone and I'm sad. I've got a valve delete but it ain't cutting it.

What's going to get me that deep European sports car sound without being oboxious? WAF (Wife acceptance Factor) is key.

AWE Suite? X-pipe? HFC? Res Delete? (Baby res or Suitcase muffler delete?)

I went with CTS High flow cat and I’m extremely happy with the result of that. Thinking of doing an X pipe in the future. But it really does sound perfect where it’s at now

But you need the CTS Stage 2 tune to eliminate the CEL, correct? Or can you run a spacer?

    I have 034 stage 2
There is conflicting evidence supporting whether or not the spacer will work or not. Your best bet would be the fabspeed 02 spacer with the mini cat

If you don’t wanna play with that- maybe look into x pipe or deleting resonators. Just be careful kinda playing with fire when it comes to drone on the highway.

I had my resonator cut out and a pair of straight pipes welded in.

Drone on the highway is non-existent if you’re in D (valve closed) and in 8th gear cruising.

Yeah I kinda figured doing 1 would be okay- but when you start getting rid of more I’ve heard the drone is real.

You cut the baby res near the front of the car? Happy with the sound now? Can you hear any difference at idol or is it more in the revs?

No, I cut out the big one in the middle of the car.

Yes, the car is louder all the time. Cold start is way louder. Idle is louder. Revs are louder. Pops and bangs are louder and depending on circumstances also go a little longer.

I have the same setup (mid res delete) but also added the valve delete for over a year now and couldn't be happier. Heard deleting the front 2 baby res hardly makes any difference in sound. No drone on the highway in D/S.

Kind of leaning towards this setup too. Seems like a good thing to try before I go full on HFC

You think that ECS X-pipe would give me a sound similar to your straight pipes? Should be the same right as long as it's deleting the center res.

No clue. Isn’t the point of the x-pipe that the tubes join in the middle? That will likely sound different.

Good luck getting one in a timely manner now. I ordered mine in December with a ship date of Jan 31st. It now says extended lead April 13th Delivery. 5 months is a little while to wait....

Not saying it WILL come early, but I had a similar experience when I ordered my billet dip stick from ECS

Ordered Mid November with an expected ship date of January 3rd. Shortly after ordering it was updated to February, then March. Finally it said April 15th ship date.

Got a shipment notification and received it the week after Christmas. A bit earlier than the original date of January 3rd.

That being said, I also ordered the ECS x-pipe. When I ordered it also said January 31st I believe, now it is also pushed back to April 13th.

That's awesome. I really hope this is the case. I'm fairly new to the car game, let alone the Audi game. I'm just impatient and I can really only work on my car from Jan-March so if it comes in April it's gotta wait til next year most likely. But I ordered the Valve Delete Sim from @Me_in_NY looking for forward to it.

You have a great sound there! My only concern with the High flow cat is getting the Check Engine light, I won't be able to run a tune until this factory warrantee expires.

But, I wonder if a mid muffler delete could tide me over until then, and put the HFC on with the tune later for extra power and sound
