Thinking about getting a "upgraded" Steering Wheel for the RS7... Questions...

So I have a heated wheel, and I know im going to lose that. But I have a couple questions for those who have already swapped to non OEM wheels:

    Can someone confirm:
Lane Assist Vibrate- Is that coming from the wheel itself or else where causing the wheel to Vibrate?

If I get a new button for the right side of the wheel that has the "Drive Select" (To replace heated wheel button) Is it a simple plug and play and any coding needed? (Part number if anyone has one) (17 RS7)

Does anyone have the coding to remove the heated wheel feature? (is that needed)

    TIA

Lane aassist feedback is generated from the column, not the wheel.

Coding is needed to activate the wheel-based "Drive Select" button. BOTH sides (R + L) of the MFB group must be sourced from a C7.5 RS6 or RS7. The "Drive Select" button sends a CAN-high specific code and the button groups are linked together and is only compatible with the C7.5, and not 2012-2015 years.

Unsure about the heated wheel feature. I'd assume it either remains dormant or stores a soft code in absence of the heated button. It can be deactivated in coding.

If you're swapping wheel styles, consider sourcing a matching airbag to the new wheel. Your heated wheel uses the older, 2-post airbag design shared with the D4 A8/S8. You can find custom wheels that are sourced from that style of wheel frame, but OEM flat-bottom C7.5 wheels use an updated style of airbag that is physically incompatible with your existing airbag.

Can confirm that the flat bottom wheels use a different airbag and has the mounting prongs in a different location.

The alternative is to go full custom and have a flat bottom that takes the existing round bottom airbag, but so far the only ones I’ve seen start at $600-700 and easily goes past $1000 whereas you can get an OEM flat bottom with airbag for usually less than $600.
