I’m ordering a 2022. Go with DRC or air suspension?

I’m always afraid of air suspension failure and the expensive repairs once outside of warranty.
How easy is it to retrofit steal springs and coil overs if u originally have air suspension?

Any suspension repair is going to be significantly cheaper than a DRC repair, which doesn’t have a perfect track record itself. Dont let the potential repair be your deciding factor.

I have also put in an order for a 2022 RS6 and have time to decide whether to go with the standard air suspension or the DRC. I’m not worried about the cost of one versus the other, as we’ll buy an extended warranty. From the few European auto journalists who have done back-to-back comparisons, they tend to lean towards the DRC. Their view is that in comfort mode, the DRC isn’t much harsher than the air suspension. So, in their view, you give up just a bit of comfort for a better handling car. For anyone who has driven the DRC, I’d really appreciate to hear if you agree with this opinion. My other concern with DRC is clearing speed bumps. Many residential streets in Toronto have speed bumps to slow down traffic. When I look at the ride height of the RS6 with air suspension it looks like you could potentially scrape the lower front valance when you drive over a speed bump - and the DRC would only make it worse since it sits even lower. Does anyone with an RS6 have a problem clearing speed bumps? Thanks for sharing your views!

I may soon be able to find the answer to this perplexing question. When my car arrives I'll extend an invitation to any of you with the air ride to come do a back to back test and review. I can't wait to see the pros and cons of these two suspensions.

I'm pretty sure they will perform quite a bit differently than DRC. Primarily they act laterally, while DRC act diagonally. Audi, McLaren, Toyota and others wouldn't have spent so much engineering time working on DRC if they could have added just anti-sway bars. To be determined.

I love the air suspension with cete module. Fully customized ride height with added capability to lower to show mode or raise up all the way to +30mm for obstacles or rough road clearance. To me it’s a no brainer if you need height flexibility on the go.

If you’re focused on pure driving experience drc def better but if you’re really that focused on cornering at speed and “diagonal” pitch I’d ditch the rs6 and get a gt3. End of day it’s an almost 5k lb wagon.

I need a 5 passenger vehicle with room for cargo and/or groceries. Plus long distance driving suitability. I think I chose the right C-8. I may still go after a Z06 when they become obtainable. I've been known to do a lot of driving in Mexico. wink, wink.

I raise the RS6 to max height if going over anything Im not sure clears cleanly. DRC cant do that.

I remember lowering my B5 S4 as part of a suspension upgrade and bottoming out going over a speed bump I'd cleared 90000x before. Not a fun sound.
