While helping some fellow Audi owners update their respective MMI3GP navigation databases recently, I came across publisher (NavTeq) release information that does not appear to be shared with end-users in the releases to which I have access, starting with NAR 6.16.2 (2017/2018):

In general, the Q1 release (first of two releases having the same first letter in the VAG part number) is a partial-year release, while a Q3 release is considered a full-year release.

Update Apr 2023: ETKA shows the next NAR media releases following xJE are 8R0051884KC as version "2022/2023" and 8R0051884KM as version "2023". No ETA on either release.

This release information is contained in the LIT3GP and PIT database files, and can be viewed with the Unix/Linux "strings" command:

strings pkgdb/LIT3GP_NAR/AJxyzPx_L1.db | more

If anyone here has access to additional release media and can read the release information from the LIT3GP and PIT database files, I can add that information here. --g

ETKA shows that media P/N 8R0051884JE (NAR v 2021/2022) was released in May 2021, and that (newer) 8R0051884JP (NAR v 2022) was released in Dec 2021. If the previous release model holds here, JE is the 2020 Q3 release, and JP is the 2021 Q1 release. BTW, -JH is actually India v 2021/2022 (ETKA had this listing incorrect initially -- I should fix my earlier remarks on this). --g

...Although almost $300 for a map update is hard to swallow if you can buy a 10" android upgrade screen and bezel for between $300 and $500 depending on the version you get.

Back in August, I ordered NAR SD 8R0051884KM from an online parts department for what I consider a decent discount. I just spoke with their parts department about the status of that order -- they tell me now that 8R0051884KM is listed in their ETKA as back-ordered until Spring 2024 ! LOL ! And this for nav data assembled in Q3 2022 ! Stay tuned. --g

The Jan 2024 update to VAG ETKA shows no new MMI3G (PR-7T6) navigation database releases for any market.

Thus, we assume that version 2023 (assembled Q3 2022 and added to ETKA in Dec 2022) is likely the last nav database released by Harman-Becker for their MMI3G High and Plus systems. --g
