Got an update on the issue with the SAI relay. Turned out to be tied into the other issue I was working with the tuner on.
Since I had to use a 6 speed S4 harness due to the harness that came with the AZR engine being for right hand drive, there needed to be additional changes made to the map flashed on the ecu. Basically, the cam tensioners were acting dead and not doing any adjustments when running. Tuner made me a revision map to act more like there's an S4 harness in this respect and it worked. It also got rid of the expectation of SAI (even if it were coded out on the rs4 map) and this resolved both issues.
So the car currently has a clean bill of health as far as engine and other related diagnostic codes go! I'm a bit baffled there was so little to address after a build of this scope with so many changes all at once! But hey, I'll take it, hopefully just means I was thorough in doing things right the first time and it all worked out.
Next steps are get the car into exhaust shop so they can finish that. I've got the front end body panels to finish while it's in there. Should be able to get it on the road on some nice days shortly after and break things in. Then I go get an inspection for rebuilt title (hard to remember at this point this started as a salvage car) and I can register afterward. Not sure I'll even get to that point while living in Colorado for the next year. We've got strictest emissions here next to really just California. I'm looking at moving down to the Austin, TX area next year and their emissions requirements are looser. So that may be the place the finally register and do inspection.
