What a read!!! Amazing you've done most of this at home. The work itself is genuinely impressive! You've got great skills.

Haha well it's getting close guys! I'm thinking sometime in summer most items should be finished and ready for the grand unveiling. I've had it started a few times now to run for a minute or so in the garage. Getting it taken on a flatbed into 485 Designs in the next week or two so they can finish some fixes/changes to the exhaust they worked on without the car. After that I can actually get it on the road to move out of the garage a bit. No hood or front bumper on it yet, but some tests around the neighborhood will be fine.

I'll be busy moving in 2 weeks here just about 5 minutes from where I am now. Will have a new garage to work in for the next year, but it'll take a bit to get everything set to do more work on the car. Currently getting the last door card all together and the RS4 parts swapped in. Just have upper pillars left to cover on the interior after this! So a mix of mechanical, tuning, body, and interior work left to go. Starting to see a finish line at least as this thing hits it's 4th birthday in my possession in March!

One pic from Jan. 31st, 2025 below just after getting the front carrier finally on the car and hooked up, though not bolted in place yet. Just a quick mobile app upload, so hopefully quality is okay! Car is filled with all the fluids since then. Only thing leaking is a line off the windshield washer fluid reservoir of course

Another 6 speed swap question for you fine folks. Looks like the last code I still have appearing around the auto to manual conversion is a code for secondary air pump relay open circuit. We'll I'm using a 6 speed harness and that SAI relay it's complaining is unplugged in the ecu box no longer exists. Now the AZR 6 speed did actually have SAI, but my tuner has coded it out, as most people tuning RS4s remove the SAI. Though I think they leave the relay plugged in. What do I need to do here to allow the car to think that relay is plugged in? Seeing as the wiring doesn't exist in the engine harness I'm a little baffled where to look. Is there a wire or plug somewhere I need to jump?

    Thanks all!

Very clean man . Correct me if I'm wrong, but would it simply be connecting ecu 46* to T10ar/8, that would be the relay?

    *fix typo

    She's getting there, thanks!

Happen to have a wiring diagram around the SAI and its relay? I have no idea if that's correct or not, but I may be able to tell if anyone has this wiring diagram handy.

BEL ECU Diagram I have APB as well, both J299 go to pin 46 from T10(N/AR)/8 as the relay trigger.

Thank you, thank you! Just what I needed here. Will get to digging into this.

I've done enough wiring in this project car to last me many lifetimes. I'll get to covering some of it when I find the time to post all the pics, but we got the 6 speed swap, fuel pump w/ relay, full engine harness custom rebuild, wideband o2, boost gauge, electric fan kit, and direct to ecu ignition. It's been a ride! At least I've replaced every bad or aged connector and shouldn't have issues with those for a long time to come.

Got an update on the issue with the SAI relay. Turned out to be tied into the other issue I was working with the tuner on.

Since I had to use a 6 speed S4 harness due to the harness that came with the AZR engine being for right hand drive, there needed to be additional changes made to the map flashed on the ecu. Basically, the cam tensioners were acting dead and not doing any adjustments when running. Tuner made me a revision map to act more like there's an S4 harness in this respect and it worked. It also got rid of the expectation of SAI (even if it were coded out on the rs4 map) and this resolved both issues.

So the car currently has a clean bill of health as far as engine and other related diagnostic codes go! I'm a bit baffled there was so little to address after a build of this scope with so many changes all at once! But hey, I'll take it, hopefully just means I was thorough in doing things right the first time and it all worked out.

Next steps are get the car into exhaust shop so they can finish that. I've got the front end body panels to finish while it's in there. Should be able to get it on the road on some nice days shortly after and break things in. Then I go get an inspection for rebuilt title (hard to remember at this point this started as a salvage car) and I can register afterward. Not sure I'll even get to that point while living in Colorado for the next year. We've got strictest emissions here next to really just California. I'm looking at moving down to the Austin, TX area next year and their emissions requirements are looser. So that may be the place the finally register and do inspection.
