Car locking but won't unlock with fob

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Good day folks!

Having an issue with my B8. Last week it started having trouble unlocking with the key fob. I've been having to pull the little key blade out and manually unlock the door.

The fob will lock the car no problem but won't unlock it.
When I press the unlock button the lights on the car flash like it's unlocking but nothing happens.

Anyone have this issue and can point me in the right direction for a fix ? Thank you in advance!

I'd give a new key fob battery a try.

Saw this the other day, probably won't work but I'll share anyway.

All doors. They all lock no problem but none of them will unlock with remote. Any idea what this could be ?

On all 4 doors though ? Is there some sort of module that controls this and would allow all the doors to lock but not unlock? I've never had this issue on any of my past 5 audi's I've owned

This. But the actuator is repairable. Repaired mine a couple of years ago and it is still working. All other 3 doors won't unlock via key fob i must open them from inside.

You didn't say what happens when you're in the car and lock/unlock with the physical driver door buttons. Do all the doors *unlock* properly ?
    Any fault codes from J519 (BCM) or J393 (BCM2) ? --g

when i unlock my doors i'm pretty sure they all unlock not just driver. Is that programable somewhere like most modern cars ? if it is i would first make sure that feature is set to all doors. Then see what happens.

"single door unlock" (iirc) in central locking in the CAR menu. I have mine set, so it unlocks only the door that I touch, or in the case of the key fob, driver's door and the fuel filler door on first unlock key press, the rest of the doors and the hatch on the second key press. But that setting would be irrelevant to the OP as his problem is the driver's door not unlocking.

The OP's problem sounds like the door latch motor issue where it can lock but not unlock due to failure of the components internally, which can be repaired if you open it up. There were a few videos on youtube on the subject, search "b8 a4 door latch motor repair".
