It is reading both. Not many have a known good pattern for this as this car is very good at monitoring and correcting for phase differences, and throwing a code if it's too far out .

Oh wow didn't even notice it was a 3.2.

There's five signals in a EA837 3.2L FSI V6 CALA engine. Also, going to be far less likely to find the CALA engine in a B8.0 A4 than in a B8.0 A5 or B8.0 Q5.

    G28 crank position sensor
G40 intake cam position sensor bank 1
G163 intake cam position sensor bank 2
G300 exhaust cam position sensor bank 1
G301 exhaust cam position sensor bank 2

This is because the CALA has VVT on both intake and exhaust cams, as well as VVL on the exhaust cam.

The CAJA/CCAA and CAKA/CCBA 3.0L TFSI V6 is based on the 3.2L FSI V6, but it drops the VVT and the VVL on the exhaust cam. So it also drops the G300 and G301 sensors.

The other engine built the same as the CALA is the BDX 2.8L FSI V6, should you have access to vehicles that utilize that engine. I didn't find any videos/graphs out there denoting the CALA or BDX back when you posted this originally. If the PicoScope library has one, I don't know it. Never got around to dropping the coin on a PicoScope, though it would be sweet to have one.

I ran into a similar situation with my 09 A4 2.0t but I had a starting issue with mine also where every once in awhile it wouldn't start. And after changing timing chains and other timing stuff including crank and cam position sensors it still gave me a P0016 code. It ended up being the thrust washers. I thought it might be the impuse wheel but i ended up tearing it apart and found pieces of thrust washers torn apart inside the engine and it wrecked the crankshaft and the block. I was getting the code for camshaft and crankshaft correlation. Don't know if you might have same issue or not. But when I changed the cranshaft sensor I found a piece of metal attached to the end of the magnet.
