If you can’t tell your car was flashed/tuned I am mildly concerned for a few reasons…eek.

I'm hearing great results from the Poconos this weekend! Looks like there were several APR Tuned RS6s there kicking butt. Top two times were APR tuned, and the top 5 results, 4 were all APR tuned I believe.

    Anyone attend the event?

There were several APR tuned cars that participated and one Uni car. Here are some pics and race results from the whole day. I ran a best of 144MPH in the 1600ft distance of the Pocono Nascar track straight in the RS6. Thanks to APR for solid reliable horsepower and to Ray for getting so many RS6 Avants together in one place.

The APR intake fitment was perfect, took me an hour to install at home. Their turbo inlets are yugeee.

I have Used the APR tune in my S8 and my A8L provided the computer for the first 4.0 twin turbo tune of those motors.

I was disappointed that there was no APR tune for the RS7 when my 22 arrived last year and I sent My computer off to mtm for a tune upon delivery so I never Had a before and after. The MTM tune is bare bones - no extra features other than initial speed limiter gone (verified)-I’m running single 93 octane program

My question is will I notice any significant difference in performance if I move To the APRtune - thinking of doing intake and possibly down pipes if not too loud

    Thanks

Day to day driving in Atlanta traffic on the weekends, initial acceleration is drastically improved and mid range throttle response. It should have came from the factory like this

The APR Intake System is a substantial upgrade for the 4.0T EA825 engine. It offers significant horsepower and torque gains through a high flow design that greatly increases airflow while reducing pressure drop.

    Features and Benefits
    • +47 AWHP & +38 AWFT-LBS at the wheels measured over stock (Stage 1 93)
    • Carbon Fiber airbox with 52% larger airbox outlets
    • Smooth and high flow turbocharger inlet pipe couplers
    • 93% larger aluminum turbocharger inlets with adapter rings for larger turbochargers
    • 50% reduction in pressure drop at the turbo inlets
    • High flow and washable pleated cotton gauze filter material
    • Enhanced engine sound
    • Turbos spool faster
    • Turbos operates more efficiently
    • Inlet piping diameter is maximized from the airbox outlets to the turbocharger inlets
    • Inlet piping addresses the main system restriction
    • Billet turbo adapter rings make fitting this system to larger turbo possible
    • Emissions friendly

We’ve upgraded every part that actually translates to increased performance. Throttle response sharpens, as the system lets your engine to breath more freely. This causes the turbochargers to work less hard, which directly translates to the gains you feel. On top of that, the stunning carbon fiber and aluminum design looks fantastic in the engine bay and adds a pleasant auditory note to the engine. The filter is washable and reusable, and the cast aluminum turbo inlets use adapter rings with ideal entrances, making them compatible with larger turbochargers. This lets the system support even higher airflow levels, with low pressure drop, and even more horsepower and torque as you continue to mod!

    DESIGN OVERVIEW AND TESTING:

There was no component overlooked in the search for performance; the airbox, filter, couplers, and turbo inlets were each extensively analyzed and modified for maximum flow. The upgraded APR filter unit, featuring a low restriction cotton gauze media, flows 8% more than stock without sacrificing air quality. Flow is further improved by 52% larger airbox outlets, and 93% larger turbo inlets. The significantly improved APR turbo inlets are compatible with turbos featuring up to a 29% larger inlet port; various inlet adapters ensure that the APR intake will provide optimized flow for a wide range of turbos.

Overall flow improvements of the intake result in a 50% reduction in pressure drop compared to OEM. The APR intake flows 19% less than the theoretical maximum supported by the OEM turbo inlet port diameter; a significant improvement compared to the OEM intake which flows 37% less than the theoretical maximum. Such significant improvements in flow quality and quantity are manifested in faster throttle response, reduced strain on the turbo, and increased efficiency which translates to more power.

On the Stage 1 (93) APR RS6, an additional 47 AWHP and 38 AWFT-LBS of torque, to all four wheels, was measured on our calibrated chassis dynos. Whether you are looking to improve the performance of your stock RS6, or pushing the limits with larger turbos, the APR intake will support your efforts.

I would assume they tell you proprietary information and that you can look at the dyno sheets for comparison. But that’s my guess.

Are they all the same process? Plug into a port, download the software and done? It sounds like the Unitronic one can be done on your own but I need to go to an authorized dealer for the APR…is that right?

Thx for the response Arin. Currently your website prices APR stage 1 for $799 and plus for $1599. Does that mean the total is approx $2400? I’ve followed this thread pretty closely and I saw the initial price decrease of APR Plus but didn’t know you guys did another price decrease. Thx

I just had the 93 tune installed yesterday. wish I had time to do a before and after dyno, but figured I'd share my seat of the pants impressions so far.

all I can say is wow - I expected to feel a big difference, but I was still surprised. this car is absurdly quick stock for what it is, and it doesn't need any more power, but it's just way more exciting to drive now. in full WOT, it's now got the exciting and somewhat scary feeling acceleration (the scary feeling is something I missed from my F90 M5 which felt like it pulled noticeably harder stock vs. stock - this now feels maybe a little faster than the M).

I also noticed a big difference cruising on the highway - at regular highway speeds (70 or so), you can notice a big difference in just light throttle when accelerating (but not adding so much throttle to induce a downshift).

awesome stuff from APR - a big upgrade in performance from a brand I trust and for a good value

How is everyone liking their APR+ tune? I'm trying to plan things out and am leaning this direction because of the warranty. A little bummed because I'd really like the raw sound of adding downpipes. That being said, how is this tune with burbles, snaps, and crackles? Is it essentially the same as stock where I get burbles in sport mode? Additionally, do each of the driving modes still have differences in power delivery? I love the burbles of sport mode on the stock vehicle but I don't love the harder shifting upon acceleration.

I'm happy with the APR+ tune on our RS6. As I've posted in the past, the tip in response is especially appreciated. I put an Akrapović catback exhaust on the car together with a CETE valve control module. The sound is fantastic!

There is definitely a difference between Auto and Sport mode. However, as I understand it, the difference isn't that the engine is producing more HP/Torque, rather, the shifts happen at higher rpms and the transmission tops out at gear 7. Maybe that is what you mean?

What's the word on getting a tune out for the upcoming US RS6 Performance models being released in 2024? Bigger turbos, more boost, different transmission tuning will need to be tested, correct?

Just trying to get an idea. Cheers!

“hopefully” getting released. Audi can barely finish production of the MY23 cars. I think the RS6 performance will be in very limited numbers. APR would likely need a test car to do a tune, and that may be very hard for them to come by.

why would anyone spend 50k more on the performance model and then do an apr tune? lunacy i say.
for 50k, get the regular version, tune, wheels, custom paint job, etc... then spend 30k on blow and hookers.
job well done, and you'll have better memories and an infection to remind you of the fun times once in awhile.
