There is definitely a difference between Auto and Sport mode. However, as I understand it, the difference isn't that the engine is producing more HP/Torque, rather, the shifts happen at higher rpms and the transmission tops out at gear 7. Maybe that is what you mean?
Right on! I straight-piped mine and I'm pretty happy with the sound. I'm lowering with the scan tool and putting spacers on this week. I'm mainly asking if the shifting/throttle response is similar in each mode after the tune. In auto it's pretty smooth shifting and what not and has no burbles. In sport it shifts harder, holds at higher RPMs, and has burbles on downshift, etc.

Ah, I see. Well, drivability is more or less the same with tune as before. I'd say there are burbles, etc in Auto post tune as well... thinking about it, rpms may be the factor that brings them out. When is S mode, the rpms are higher, which in turn brings out the exhaust notes. I could be wrong, but it would make sense sort of...

Agreed. I love the burbles so having them in Auto post tune is great.

PS...I'm also a pwdrskr. Lots of it to be had this year in SLC. CA got a bunch too I guess.

rs6 perf supposedly has bigger turbos from the rsq8, how come then tune for regular rs6 and rsq8 is same power? so you are not expecting a stronger tune for the performance?

It depends on the ECU box code. Your car may have one we have, but it also may not. An APR dealer will need to plug in to check, unless you have a scan tool. IF you do, you can share the info here and I can check.

    Arin,

What is the reasoning behind only a 91 octane tune for APR+? Is there a greater risk to the engine if you do a 93 (even if you use 93 octane gas)? Thx

Premium is a minimum of 91 across the country, whereas 93 is not available everywhere. To avoid the risk associated with an APR Plus driver running or not having access to the right fuel, we went with 91 since it can be run on 93.

I wish I could find 93 (or higher) fuel near our house. I need convenience, don’t really want to have to go out of the way every time I need to fill up. Not to mention, my wife wouldn’t care for it either.

On an unrelated note, is APR working on Stage 2 for the RS6?

Same this as RS5. During development we tested the back pressure at the catalysts and didn't record anything to warrant a "stage 2" type tune. Parts are simply plug and play.

reading this thread it amazes me how many people don't understand basics of economics and risk underwriting

like you want this dude to cover all of your potential engine warranty repairs for the next 4 years for $1k wtf

I apologize for the question if this is well known to the community, but at what level of power adds do we need to start thinking about drivetrain reinforcement? On the GTR platform I know it was a good idea at the ~700ish WHP level. There was also a deep bench of vendors able to offer these services. I’m not seeing the same for this platform, but again I’m new to Audi and haven’t felt the need to heavily modify yet so haven’t done all that much research.

Resurrecting this thread if anyone’s still checking. Have there been any measured stats running the 91 tune on 93 octane vs. running the 91 tune on 91 octane? If so, what does the comparison look like?
