I have a fake one and it worked fine. I bought one off of eBay based on a link that Sam sent me. Trick is making sure it ships from US (assuming you are in US) as many ship from China and could take weeks.

Just had my Matrix and VIM programmed by Sam. First off, very straightforward and Sam made it an easy process. I received the cable today that he recommended off of EBay and it arrived sooner than expected.
It took about an hour to download the program (takes about 80 gigs of space), and even though I had an appointment tomorrow, he asked if I wanted to program it tonight…heck yeah!
Plugged in the cable, connected to the laptop, and Sam did his magic…took about 15-20 minutes.

Took a quick spin tonight and must say I am impressed. I live in the country and it worked like a charm, especially with oncoming traffic and watching for deer.

Overall, I can’t say enough how easy Sam was to work with and he was very responsive to my questions. You can tell he cares and also is an Audi enthusiast himself. To me, this is how it should have come programmed in the US and Canada. Money well spent!

Had mine done a month ago. With the blue lights and the Matrix enabled it's just such a wicked feature. Money well spent

Look up under the driver's dash/footwell, just behind the hood release. There is no cover or anything, just accessible to plug it in

I purchased the same cable and Sam did the updates for me yesterday evening. Very smooth process and Sam is knowledgeable and easy to work with. The matrix lights are excellent, as others have said. They activate around 35 mph if conditions are dark enough. If there is a lot traffic, either in the same direction or opposite, they turn off until the road darkens again. I'm very pleased.

I used a Mac. Worked fine. He has not tried Android yet.

My experience was about 40 minutes to download the program (50-60 mbps), and the computer needs 80 gigs free to download direct. He mentioned USB sharing, which may take longer. The actual install process is pretty quick, about 10-12 minutes.

I have 1 gig Internet so it only took 5 minutes to download.

I enabled on my RS6 and my wifes SQ7 and it was a great experience. Sam is a pleasure to work with. The matrix lights are so damn cool and amazing to have driving mountain roads near me. 100% would recommend this.

Just checked and my nav directions are still in HUD in auto mode. Didn’t check in RS mode but will later. I had Sam do all three updates (matrix, obstacle avoidance and the blue lights).

And I’m sure you already realize this but only the MMI nav shows up in HUD. Will not show directions from CarPlay.

Thanks. I used the MMI and had directions on the main screen but not HUD. Could have been a glitch. Sam did say the coding was different for the ‘22 and I was the first one he had done. Car is at the detailer over the weekend so I’ll check again when I pick it up. I was in auto mode. I had the same systems enabled that you did.

Let Sam in person last night and had him enable the matrix and a few other things. Wonderful guy and just loves helping enthusiasts out. 10/10 recommend.
