I give up, where does this foam fender seal go?

2014 AR. A few years ago our fender was replaced.

This foam piece was in the trunk the whole time (8K0821197). I want to stick it back where it was supposed to be.

I am going to rip into it today, and hopefully it was a spare the body shop just threw in the back.

But I would LOVE To know where it actually fit.

In the trash imo.

But it looks like it goes where the fender meets the pillar. Most cars have some sort of stuffing in the fender near the door jam

You sure of the part number? 8K0 821 197 would be for the sedan/avant. 8K9 821 197 is for the allroad. Maybe that's why it's in the hatch instead of installed on your allroad.

Correct number. 8K9 821 197 it looks like it fits perfectly dead center on the fender.

The links seem to lose the part selection when clicked on. Not sure why. Anyway, part 14. So yeah, it looks it goes there because that's exactly where it goes, just like the diagram shows. Second link is the allroad, but the diagrams are the same.

Found it. It goes inside with the foam at the plenum. So it lines up in the fender to that black upper foam.
