    RS6/RS7 Speed Limiter Removal

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi Everyone

I'm not sure if this has been touched (I couldn't find anything in this group) but are there specific tunes available to remove the 155mph limit on these cars? I have watched countless YouTube vids on this machine and I have heard " a tune can remove that" but I am not sure I have seen many advertised. I want to say the MTM tune has that option?. What options are out there for the speed limit removal?

This questions somewhat falls from the whole Carbon Ceramic vs. Steel Brake conversation. I originally wanted the CCB for both the benefit of the brakes and then the increased MPH. However, I'm starting to reconsider the brakes based on my lifestyle where I live and possibly directing that cost to something I would probably enjoy more i.e Bang & Olufsen sound system..

When purchasing or building out your RS6/RS7 was the top speed availability a concern, or lack there of?

Audi claims 174 for top speed for us models with steelies. Don't think anyone has tested this...and posted about it.

Interesting I must have missed that. I know from various shift sector/never lift events I have been to and seen 155mph Is easy to hit on an airstrip. I plan to take this car to those events with my Supra so I didnt want it to be an issue. If 174 is what's claimed I'm good with that!

Previously released info says you need DRC on steelies to lift restriction to 174 mph. That's good enough for me because I rarely take my cage above one fiddy. Now, on the otherhand,my bike frequently visits that territory.

Someone on here with air/steel mentioned he was limited to 155.

I had not seen that but would be interested to know if that was a US or Euro car.

Euro definitely states three limits: 155, 174 and 190 or whatever. In the US they only state 174 and 190. And we can’t get DRC in US (yet).

Somebody do it and report back.

Yeah, 155MPH speed limit only applies to Euro models, 174MPH is US spec limit, 190MPH w/ carbon brakes. Go to audiusa and look at technical specifications, shows 174MPH/190MPH, my sales guy is a huge Audi fan and always knows all of the detailed specs and also mentioned US spec has 174MPH limit by default. If 174MPH isn't enough for you then I don't know how 190MPH is, haha, mine is never going to see that unless I do one of those half mile events.

In Germany on the Autobahn it would be fun to try and max it out though, just because. In any case, if you end up tuning it, APR always removes the top speed limiter as well.

Thanks everyone for your feedback and input. Made things a bit more clearer for me! I would have loved to take this on the Autobahn but my military days are long past me so ill have to do with the trips to mexico for that!!

I think with the discussion here and over on the other thread I'll probably opt for the steelies.. I think I have made up my mind lol..

Appears to be a US spec car. See post by Hokiekrash on 5/2 in the order/wait thread. https://www.audizine.com/forum/newre...ply&p=14509435

I see it now. Interesting. Seems like a little false advertising.

Well son of a bitch, now the next time some fool wants to race to 174MPH I'm effed. Haha, I've got all-season tires on since it's enough for our winters out here that are only rated to 168MPH anyway, wouldn't try pushing my luck on those. It must be 174MPH only w/ DRC even though it wasn't available until '22 MY here. Odd that they think adding ceramics makes DRC not necessary, since it's still the same bagged suspension. <shrug>

156 here and she stopped pulling. US spec non CCB.

TBH, even for short bursts, anything above 140 is a little nuts with just a seatbelt on.

I have a customer who has achieved 202mph on his instrument display. RS6 on a closed course with VF Engineering tuning.

Was that on a non CCB equipped RS6?

Yiss, VF tuned, almost every tune removes the top speed limiter, not hitting that stock.
