low boost code with jhm k04r

The low boost code just started popping up.

I’ve been running the apr k04 tune 100 octane file (low boost code on all files)

I do have a boost gauge installed

Car accelerates little slow. Builds boost slow down low but at 3-4000rpm boost comes flying in at 20 pounds and holds and tapers to 18

I can wiggle the wastegate rod. I can even pry back to open it. Not sure if that is okay. Don’t know much about internal wastegates.

I have Vcds and i know how to log.

I was part of the group buy back in July 2017
Put about 100k miles on this turbo

    What do you guys think?

You need to adjust the wastegate preload to 7-8psi. Preload is where the WG looks closed but you can spin the the WG flap.

You will need to pull the Cat to do this, also verify that you don’t have a crack in the housing like this K04R.

So your saying after all these miles. it’s now needs tightened? Is that correct? Was working good before. How do i do that. I see a nut that can be loosened or tightened.

The first batch was never set tight( for most) to begin. Over time you will get more play in the gate, now, if your housing is cracked obviously it will need to be replaced.

I believe the K04R came with an adjustable WG via the threaded arm(rod). You need to shorten the rod by 2-3 turns and validate it’s function by pumping the WG actuator with regulated (with a gauge) air. It is best to pull the cat back to observe the function and ensure that there aren’t any cracks.
