THE ULTIMATE THREAD FOR Audi A3 8v Facelift ASS (Audi Sound System) Subwoofer UPGRADE

    Hi Everyone,

So my warranty is about to expire and im finally jumping in the market to Upgrade the OEM Subwoofer i have in my Audi A3 8v 2017 Sedan. The car is spec with the Audi Sound System (ASS lul). The Sedan models have the Subwoofer on the rear parcel instead of in the spare wheel. Everything is good minus the fact that the facelift models with ASS dont have subwoofer controls. The ones with B&O do with a Software update but we never got that privilege for ASS. So controlling the OEM sub is a no go. Now all that aside, all i want to do i replace the current Sub with something better as the rest of the speakers are more then fine.

I was thinking of going with a Kicker CX300.1 2016 or a Kicker 46CXA4001 2019. Essentially a Mono Amp under 300w for 2ohm, nothing to crazy or power hungry as im only trying to control the sub on its own via a Remote Sub Control (as i cannot control it via MMI). Also with that, i would use a AudioControl LC2i 2 Channel Line Out Converter prior the AMP.

I would slice through the original wiring from the Sub ( 4 wires, 2 positive 2 negative) and wire it to the LC2i Speaker input L and R. From then, Main Output on the LC2i to Input L and R on the Kicker AMP. This is just a write up, will show a step by step on how to and why.

Essentially, i would like to have feedback from anyone that has done the same, wiring diagram is a ++++ please as I still need to confirm the best way to have Remote Turn on and 12v Power for both the LC2i and Kicker AMP. Ive heard that the LC2i can bypass Remote in and out via the Speaker input (basically detect when the original wiring for the Sub is being powered on), can i use the Remote OUT of the LC2i for the Remote IN on the AMP ? i need to figure out the Remote for both the AMP and LC2i and also the 12v source.

HERE is a Diagram that represent what im trying to achieve : Capture.jpg

Here is the LC2i (https://www.amazon.ca/AudioControl-C...tronics&sr=1-2) and here is the Kicker AMP (https://www.amazon.ca/Kicker-CXA300-...tronics&sr=1-7)

    Thanks alot for the feedback

This will work fine. Yes, the lc2i will simply turn on when it senses an audio signal being sent to it. You can then use the blue wire that comes with it to ‘wake up’ your aftermarket amplifier (most have this remote turn in function these days). How are you planning on routing the power cable for the aftermarket amp to the battery in the engine bay?
