Man that is awesome! I was gonna do the same thing but with a small LCD. Quick question. With the gauge off how noticeable is the area you cut/scraped off? When the compass is off you can hardly tell there is a little "box" there. Does the "box" you cut out look the same with it gauge off?

now that is nice! i still like some kind of bar or needle to see it visually,im just not good with numbers ! of course its probably easier with a BT that holds boost steady after 3.5-4k whereas mine spikes around now

also i wear glasses so my peripheral vision sucks

    Nice....

Would this work in a B5 as well or ANY car in general?

Also, checked out the website, didn't say anything about reading the vacuum, just boost...yet your picture shows it reading vacuum...so I'm going to safely assume that it DOES read vacuum?

Did you have to purchase anything else, like the tubing kit?

    Re: Boost Gauge in mirror

Sent PM but thought I would post on here in case anyone else was trying this with a B5 mirror and having the same problem as me.

How can I fit the gauge wires with the outer shielding through the mirror pivot? I can squeeze the "bare" wires through but the outer shielding won't fit.
I think I've got the following options:
    • run bare wires then cut and reconnect or re-solder as needed
    • make a separate exit hole in the back of the mirror and leave the shielded wire group a little exposed
    • try and remove the factory wires, drill out the hole a bit bigger, and then reconnect the factory wiring harness (which will be a pain)

    What do you think?

I am going to do the same install but I am going to use the display for my LC-1 wideband controller.

I may see about taking apart my eBoost too and relocating the display.

Correct a paint (insulating) layer on top of a copper layer.

I scraped it away with a sharp X-Acto after test fitting the boost gauge, and marking the perimeter, so I didn't scrape away too much.

It took almost 2 hrs to scrape it all away, however a fair bit of that time was test fitting, remarking, realigning.

Yes, I was touching glass, but if you have the blade at an angle it will scrape the copper but slide on the glass.

Think about if you were shaving with a straight razor. If the blade was perpendicular to your face, you'd be cut. When you have it on an angle it scrapes off the hair without affecting your skin. *Sharp* X-Acto blades help a lot, as well, otherwise you won't be able to slide on the glass but catch the edge of the copper to scrape it off.

How much time did it take total? I was thinking about time to cost X time ratio. Seems there is at lot less expeaive ways to go

Is there an easier method than using an x-acto blade? How about a chemical?

    Re: Boost Gauge in mirror

There probably is a less expensive way of doing this, but I wanted a method that wasn't immediately noticeable and looked (somewhat) factory.

Plus, what is the point of a mod if it's the same one everyone else has done ;)

Where the display is located in the mirror or this mod you could pretty much look straight ahead and still see what your boost pressure is.

Did you ever do this? I'm not tryin' to order something to cut up and not have it able to work. I think doing this for wideband would be the best setup. I know this is old, but never saw anything else about people doing this with A/F. I like the LC-1 and the AEM setup, but unsure what setup will allow me to cut it up for this install.

As long as it flashes "Danger to Manifold", I'm sure it will be a hit.
