I think APR is likely the most conservative tuner out there, honestly. Their 4.0T Stg 1 and Stg 2 tunes keep the rev limiter at 6400, which is honestly not a bad thing - the stock turbos and power curve starts to drop off around 6000 rpm.
Totally get that! I drive a bit more conservatively overall. I’ll let her rip here and there when the mood strikes, but I definitely don’t beat the crap out of the car. The previous owner was also pretty mindful with it, which I think has helped with long-term reliability so far. The ECU and TCU tune combo has been fine and with the trans and rear diff inserts it's smooth as butter on my downshifts!

Unhappy Boost surge at 2/3rd throttle?

I also flashed with a battery tender and the wireless dongle. I appreciate the information here, I honestly think for stage 1 platforms IE isn't bad, I can see however if you want more power def DS1 or APR would be the route to go.
I've always had great luck with IE - had their tunes on my old GTI, B8.5 S4, and my son's MK7 Sportwagen.

However, on my 2018 S6 I'm seeing an issue after tune and curious if YOU see the same. WOT – all is well.

At 50%-75% throttle, 40-60 mph, in DRIVE (4th or 5th gear) (Manual\Sport modes don’t show it), the engine is only getting 40% boost (measured with VAGCOM) until suddenly I get all of the boost (think of it like a surging lawn mower\snowblower)

My tech and I both have checked al the physical stuff - waste gates, waste gate actuators, DVs, vacuum , no vacuum leaks – tune is the only outlier here.

I have a ticket open with IE support but just curious if I’m not alone. Thanks in advance man!

strange I don't have that issue, my boost doesn't really kick on until I really give it a go and drive spirited if that makes sense, I know other tunes have it activated after certain RPMs, again I don't really beat the shit out of my car so the boost doesn't kick in until I want to drive it under throttle, hope that helps?

I moved away from the IE tune late last year. Purchased the car two years ago with the E85 stage 2 ECU/TCU tune on it and ran it for a while. Didn't use any of their other "addons." It felt like an unhinged monster when laying into the accelerator to pass someone or do a random pull. Shifts were super quick and boost was instant, even at lower RPMs. With the way the TCU tune operated, if I hit the sweet spot auto downshifting into second or third, it felt like I was launching the car at speed.

About a year into ownership, I started to have an intermittent slipping/surging moment in any auto mode when under heavier load and downshifting. I'm not placing blame, but my assumption is the tune is contributing to this issue because of how aggressive the shifts can be. There's not much rev-buildup/matching as other tunes. This is when I switched to the JHM TCU tune. I haven't had any more slipping or surging issues, but this did tame the car down some. I have the JHM E40 stage 2 tunes now and enjoy the drivability of the car better. Do I miss the onslaught and aggressiveness of the IE tunes? Absolutely, but I feel more comfortable with the durability and longevity of what I have now.

Hi friends, my 2014 S7 had a local repro, and I decided to upgrade to the IE Stage 1. The problem is that my fuel consumption has skyrocketed. Driving very slowly in the city, it consumes 20L/100km (approximately 11mpg). Is this normal? What could be happening? Thanks!

that's awesome I was actually considering switching to their TCU/ECU tune combo, can it done via remotely or you have to go to a local shop, and can you do it via an OBD wireless like IE?

I haven't had any issues you speak of but I drive mostly in efficiency mode until the car warms up and occasionally I'll do spirited driving

I have a wired OBD dongle for both tuners. Process is the same for both, but JHM "limits" your tune swapping and you'll have to request more tune credits occasionally, especially if you're swapping on/off ethanol.
