What did you do to your D4/D5 today?

Hey all, don’t think we have one of these here so thought I’d start one.

I went on a weekend cruise with the Audi club of Houston this weekend. I was surprised with how well my 86,000 mile S8 handled sharp turns, corners, and apexes. Don’t get me wrong, it’s no R8 but it could hang with them!

What have you done to your A8/S8 today?

I was the only S8 there, you would have been welcome company. Hope to see you around at other events and meet ups in the Houston area. Some people are going for a cruise this weekend out of Waller if you get the urge

Replaced the OEM rear L.P. bracket

Purchased off Ebay for $30.00

Local dealerships wanted $180 to replace.

You will need a plastic pry tool and a T25 screwdriver...

Changed the oil myself on Base. $ 6.00 hourly rate for a lift.
Took me about 1.5 hr. I was moving slow due to back issues.
Only challenge, I had was the reinstall the splash shield the corner screws were a PIA, other than that piece of cake.
I elected to raise the car up before entering and leaving the lift, just in case.
Is it required to change out the washer on the drain plug for every Oil change? I used the old washer.

I used:

1.There were 19 screws on my splash shield various sizes. 12-point M8, Phillip screwdriver, T30
2. T45 for the drain plug
3.32mm Oil cap & Oil filter canister M6 Hex
4.Oil filter # 079-198-405 D
5.Most important if you have Back issues bring your BACK BRACE, it helped the old man tremendously.

I wish I had access to a lift for $6 per hour.. I agree, that splash shield is unnecessarily complex

I average about 800 to 1000k miles a month plus or minus a few. My goal is every 5k miles change oil regardless. I'll be ready for that Dam splash shield next time lol.

On base they have 23 bays with lifts and all type of stuff.
Also they have 6 mechanics on duty that will guide you on your DIY project. Open 7 days a week.. Not bad..

I think it looks good the way it is.
My next project is D.P. I want to add more hp & tq but this baby has 2 warranties.
So I'm a a little hesitant. Only 24k miles for a 2017 with a sprintbooster throttle controller which make this badboy feel quicker. No add hp or tq. But it's still fun to drive.. I can only imagine what a proper ECM tune and TCU tune would unleash in this Big Baby A8L.

Fantastic. Tell me more about the sprint booster pedal box. Is it one that plugs into OBD? Any notable differences in jerking? Also how much did it cost?
