I guess it comes down to tune and turbos.
    I'll be happy with either.

That's rough. I didn't even know there was a v3. I have the v2 and not having the issue with the sensor that these v3s seem to be having.

Pretty obvious they made v3 too big. Not sure how you don't even test fit before production.

The hose bib on the driver side is also up against the throttle body, and the passenger side bib is up against the airbox.

Not sure what a bib is but I don't believe any of the SRM intakes for the s8 attach to the factory airboxes without being cut and buying a silicone hose from Amazon.

I just meant these connections, I know thats not the right word. Also meant airbox as in the airbox under the throttle bodies.

Anyway, mine got sent back, looks like they are replacing the entire batch.

Recently got back from a trip to Dubai.

Swapped the S8 (Or more left it behind in Scotland) and was driving about in an A8L D4 W12 6.3. The car was fully loaded and had most of the options and it drove really nice. A bit longer than my S8 and was tricky maneuvering and parking in the tight Dubai multi-storey car parks. Steering felt a little lighter than the S8 and handling was more floaty than the S8. It was super smooth on the Dubai roads and stuck to the roads pretty well. Power in the car is 500 ps (493 bhp) and Torque 625 Nm (461 lb-ft), so still had the power needed to accelerate at a decent pace. Overall enjoyed the drive but still prefer my S8 and the way it drives.

Also was fortunate to spend a week driving the Rolls Royce Ghost for a week as a daily driver and then a Wraith for 5 days as my daily. Really nice experience and both are super cruising machines. Both have 6.6 W12 engines and are effortless at putting the power down. The Ghost had 563 bhp and 575 lbs/ft torque whilst the Wraith had 591 bhp and 605 lbs/ft torque and drove much sportier than the Ghost.

Wow that A8’s rear seats are so nice! Are those wooden tables attached to the back of the front seats? I’d been pondering on upgrading my rear seats to mimic these with ventilation and reclining functions in my SWB. Thanks for comparing the the W12 to the S8 drive feel, nice to hear from someone who daily drives an S8

Yes, they are folding tables. Really nice touch and the rear space is extremely comfortable for passengers since it has the heated/cooled reclining seats with massage function. It is definitely more of a cruising mobile than the S8.
Just been out for a spin in the S8 and with the cold temperatures we are having at the moment in Scotland (2-3 degrees Celsius in the evenings), it feels almost as if my car has an intercooler installed. The engine is getting plenty of cold air and the car likes it a lot

What did you do to your D4/D5 today?

Fixed the 1000 & 3000 rpm vibration in my s8 with new flex pipes from the local muffler shop. Just got the car last week and instantly came here to find a solution. It worked!

    Recently purchased a 2016 A8L Sport 4.0T upgraded from a B6 S4 6MT with a long list of mods.
Shortly followed with some vcds tweaks and then a DS1 tune.
It was quick but then DS1 really woke it up.
It makes my B6 feel slow but there just something different with a manual trans.
    Loving this car.

I’ve been searching for something along the lines of a truck or SUV. Wanted a V8, black leather interior, four doors, 4wd, under 100k miles. With the current used car market trucks and SUV’s are ridiculous and finding something in the 30k range was pretty non-existent.
And after owning 4 different VAG cars I’m invested in the brand.

Has anyone else tuned DS1? Would love to compare notes and see what tuning tweaks you may have done.

Installed my CETE Suspension Mod in the S8 today. Got nervous towards the end, especially when I forgot to reconnect the 2 loose wires and had no cameras . Good excuse to clean the car tomorrow and get new pics.

Installed a carbon rear boot spoiler (will be doing my side mirrors in carbon soon) and went stage 2 😁. Car dyno'd at 718 bhp and 1095 N.m of torque. Not had much time to have a proper drive but definitely feel the extra oomph.

Replaced control arms and anti-sway bar bushings. Let me tell you this is one of the most involved control arm replacements that I’ve done on any car (not because of problems, but because of the design).

Instead of replacing the upper control arms, I decided to press out the old ones and install Powerflex polyurethane bushings to give them a try. Haven’t driven the car just yet but I will report back with any findings.

Added the transmission insert. Not really sure if there is a difference or not but for $25 it’s worth a try.

Had a code for mechanical failure of a motor mount. I felt the engine stumble ever so slightly so I replaced the spark plugs to get that out of the way. When the engine stumble remained I knew it was time to replace the motor mounts. $620 per side and had to wait for shipment from Germany. Removal and installation required lowering the subframe and lifting the engine, very tight maneuvering to get these out and the new ones in. Pictures of the failed and torn mount below - they contain a squid ink type of liquid that I’d see when I was doing oil changes. The car now idles much smoother.

It’s a vinyl wrap. Vivvid is the name - got it on Amazon. Relatively easy to pop out the panel with no disassembly required
