Water Pump Options

What's the purpose of the vacuum line coming off the water pump?

I bought a pump for a 3.0t, but it doesn't have that port. Can I just cap off that line and use the pump?

It’s for shutting the coolant flow off to make the warmup quicker. B8 S4 and C6 A6 didn’t have it, it appeared on b8.5 and c7 s4 and a6, and probably on the q5/q7 3.0t. Perhaps you need to get a c7/b8.5 pump or ecu might not be too happy?

I've been doing a lot of work on various 3.0t vehicles, (A7, A6, S4). When I was ordering pumps, I guess I didn't notice the one I got WITHOUT the line.

The next 3.0t, I guess I'll have to take a closer look, to see if it has that line or not.
