    Trunk Lid Liner Removal

    Hello,

I have a B8.5 S4. My trunk won't open, the motor just makes noise and doesn't open. I tried to remove the lid liner to see what parts are there that may be problematic, so will just order a latch as that seems to be the only part available.

That said, I can't remove the liner. There's the emergency lever that I can't seem to remove and something is stuck behind there. I can feel behind it, there's some curved piece of plastic, which I assume is the housing for the cable. It doesn't look like the emergency release plat comes off at all. There's just soft felt when I try to pry it, so I'm reluctant to try and force it.

Has anyone removed this, what needs to be done? I can remove everything else, it's just stuck on this one area.

    TIA!

Avoid buying the aftermarket door latch from ebay or Amazon. Just get the OE from dealer. I learned my lesson, changed it like 3-4 times.

Also need to unclip the cable holder.

Thanks! I didn't even see the screw there! I assume the unclip cable holder parts are with the liner dangling down to be able to see behind it? I don't think I can do that without line of sight.

I ordered the OEM from ECS Tuning, from a google search.

The most difficult part is to unclip the cable in the back of the panel. And clip it back is another challenge. In my case, after 3, 4 installed I can do with my eyes closed😅

Audi403 had a great writeup several years ago with test and pics -- unfortunately, the pic hosting site deleted everything although his text associated with the pics may be helpful. I don't think he is active here on Audizine anymore either. Anyway, here's the link to his post: https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...1#post12774582

Just found this short YT video on removing the trunk lid liner. Hopefully it will be helpful!
