More or less the same thought process with the downpipe - didn’t see a huge upside in going stage 2 as it’s relatively minimal gains over the 1+ file and I will switch back to 91 in the winter so stage 2 would get a bit smelly. Decided the HPFP was more important to spend on after reading through some of the misfire threads and figured that locking the fuel system down was priority over stage 2. I will definitely be considering the stage 2 TCU tune though.
A high flow cat downpipe doesn't smell?
The way I see it is the HP/tq increase of the downpipe is minimal, but the faster turbo spool / less lag is where you want to be. Plus, if you're doing all the rest of the work you might as well do the last part - a cts high flow cat downpipe is what? $600 these days?
I was on the fence myself about doing stage 2 but ultimately my fears over stink and noise were unfounded. Even my mother doesn't notice much of a sound difference.
The stage 2 TCU tune with AMAX shifting is tits though. It will cut significant time off your 0 - 60 - way more than the difference between stage 1 and stage 2.
I agree about the fuel pump - I couldn't believe how much injector duty cycle I was seeing with the stock fuel pump on stage 2 93.
I'm not sure if the 034 stage 2 map takes advantage of the better fuel pump (other than the corn + map) but it certainly can't hurt.
Be sure to get a full Dyno and data log of a few pulls after all your upgrades are done to do a health check on your car. I was surprised seeing mine for sure.
