well that could be an alternative to the PSS10 that is now been unvailable for almost a year.. I love my PSS10.. but this almost make me jealous. Like, an enhanced PSS10 . Very interesting especially when the focus is on ride confort and its made by Ohlins, I wouldn't be scared to buy a set.

even though the PSS10 has 10 different settings to change on the 'fly'? I'm only asking because although this states A4/S4/RS4, I do have a B8 S5 but a rep told me it is compatible. I have the STaSIS ohlins on my ride right now but the ride in the rear is so harsh and the car could maybe sit a little lower. Instead of throwing money at a revalve/spring and labor to unload them and maybe still being a little unhappy in ride quality for a DD I have been looking at the PSS10 for months. Now this is coming available but the price is like $700 more. WHAT TO DO

Ohlins r&t are nice but keep in mind they are usually requiring 20k mile or 20 race hour rebuilds.

I,ve set my pss10 to 5 and NEVER touched them again, winter/summer, same damping. So unless you track it, I don't see someone willing to make changes all the times.

Its true that I heard that ohlins requires more rebuild than Bilstein in general, but I thought these were focused for road use, if so, I would expect them to last longer. Maybe bilstein wins because they are more durable ? Only times would tell and/or reading on other platform what they have to say about both.

Where did you get that price figure from?
I've talked to several vendors and they have no info on pricing. Even talked to someone at Ohlins USA in North Carolina and they were tight lipped on pricing.
Ohlins USA and another vendor did confirm of a late October/November release though.

I received the Ohlins Road & Track DFV coilovers last week. I believe I was one of the very first orders (landed in the US while everyone was at SEMA), but I haven't had a chance to put them on yet. Ordered them from Performance Shock Inc within Sonoma Raceway. I've had a couple Ohlins DFV coilovers in the past on my other car and have nothing, but praise for them on and off the track. I have yet to service/rebuild any of them, so we'll see how long these last until a service/rebuild.

They're linear springs with spring rates at 685lb/in front, 285lb/in rear. 20 click dampening adjustment. As you can see, you're able to adjust dampening while on the car. However they are not numbered like Bilsteins.

The rest of my Ohlins sticker/emblem collection :)

Congrats on the kit. Any mention of rebuilding intervals in the manual?

That’s a pricey kit but I would pay for it...if I had the cash...

Prices of Ohlins will go up after these initial batches sell out.

This is from their general manual, not specific to any car:

    Recommended Service Intervals

Racing: Every 10 hours of operation. Maximum 20 hours of operation without service and oil change.
Regular street use: Every 30 000 km
Keep in mind this is for service maintenance, NOT an entire rebuild, to provide fresh maximum performance. Obviously YMMV.

hats off. You sir are a true baller :)

Any clue what the service actually refer to? I should check for my PSS10 as I must be close to the 30,000km.

Depends on the condition, but typically under normal conditions a service will include: shock fluid & nitrogen charge. Complete rebuilds include those + new seals/shims, inspection of shafts, and polishing out any nicks/marring on the shaft.

The service might was well be a rebuild as far as having to remove the suspension and send it in. The Ohlins dampers are designed this way. This is different from the Bilsteins that are designed to be maintenance free (although they should be inspected annually or more depending on how you use them and your conditions). I'd shoot for 100k miles of normal driving out of the BS setup or half that for more severe duty. Of course theres a lifetime warranty on it if they need servicing.

Hey Sonic, checking in to see if you have any feedback on this setup assuming you’ve had them put in and have had some seat time.

James has a set on his RS5: https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...R-amp-T-for-B8

Interested to see more feedback too. I'm looking at these, billsteins (if you can get them) or KWs.

Awesome. Thanks for the link! I was originally set on the PSS10’s but my buddy had Öhlins R&T’s in his M3 and I was extremely impressed with them so I’ve been hoping for some feedback and this seems promising.

Yeah the only thing that concerns me with them is the maintenance they say you need. But I can't see how other shocks are really all that different so maybe they're just more conservative about it.

Theyre different. Ohlins are designed to require very regular maintenance. Pss10 is not.

What kind of maintenance do they require at 30k miles/KM?

Rebuilds. Depends on how hard you are on them and how much you ignore the interval. Maintain them on time with normal duty and probably seals and fluid. If you go out too far youll likely need everything such as a new shock body.
