I still wish I could get smoother shifts out of my 2018 SQ5. It's rough as hell, with and without a tune. Downshifts are still slow to respond and when they do it is rough getting started in gear (usually 2nd or 3rd).
Try the transmission mount mod and it will likely get rid of most the low speed issues you're having. 034 carries them.

Yes, the 034 transmission mount insert got rid of most of the 2-1 clunkiness for me.

Hi there, new (well soon to be) B9 SQ5 owner

The Wagner intercooler is finally installed.

    IMG_7696.jpg

First they sent the S4/5 version…

    IMG_7635.jpg

Wagner said that only difference between the S4/5 and SQ5 versions is the bottom brackets that sit in the OE hangers so they sent a set of those.

I went to mount it with the replacement bottom brackets and the top brackets were wrong too.

    421B3976-1341-470D-93A5-402B822D6832.jpg

So then they sent me the “Euro” brackets which fit perfectly.

    IMG_7695.jpg

Personally I’m not a huge fan that they use self-tapping screws in the bumper bar. Those are always way too easy to accidentally over-tighten and then the hole is buggered. Which, of course, happened on the passenger side. The bolt never even got snug, it just kept spinning. The driver’s side snugged up nicely. The intercooler feels solid, I gave it some pretty strong shakes and it didn’t budge. If it comes loose I guess I’ll just drill a hole through the top of the bar and get a long lag bolt with a nut. We’ll see.

Uff da. Self-tapping screws are janky and those brackets look super weak - stuff vibrates and shifts in a vehicle and that does not look trustworthy. In the least you need to replace the stripped self-tapping screw mount with a with bolt/washer/nylon nut combo. Also strongly advise replacing all self-tapping screws in the same manner and redrilling the bumper bar mounting holes such that the IC is offset from the condenser by a material amount (i.e., not touching, or close to it, as it appears in image one).

Your course is set at this point but FWIW the APR intercooler is at least 10x more robust in its install and easily offsets from the condenser, plus it comes with a complete set of HD silicone piping, MAP sensor housing and clamps, and why I chose it over the others, despite the price. Was not a fan of the bare AL look so I hit it with some BBQ paint and baked it on - has held up excellently. APR also screwed me with the wrong brackets, so I had to redo the install (abusing the requisite plastic, foam and fasteners) and the MAP sensor housing sensor hole was cocked up, so had to chuck it up and fix that too.

Hi there, new (well soon to be) B9 SQ5 owner

Honestly, in hindsight I’d have gone with either AWE or IE for their mounting solutions just because they don’t require any drilling.

The Wagner brackets aren’t weak by any stretch of the imagination and they don’t hold any weight so it’s irrelevant. The bottom brackets that do hold the weight of the intercooler are CNC’d aluminum blocks. Those aren’t flexing or breaking.

I did my 2-year service today, oil and cabin air filter.

I also installed a new 034 billet filter housing.

I have the brake fluid flush scheduled next month at my local indie shop.

The shop re-calibrated my headlights but I have noticed that my parking sensors are quite a bit more sensitive around curbs. Not that big a deal though.
can I ask if it was the alignment shop that re-calibrated your headlights?

My indie shop did the install and alignment.

It’s been a while but I think I remember them saying that they had done a number of the ABT installs and had never had to do a headlight alignment.

My invoice doesn’t have a line item for a headlight alignment. My headlights are fine so either the car adjusted them properly or they did it as part of the ABT install and just didn’t say anything.

If you go really low you will need to adjust the headlights. But that is the last step after all of the links are good and there are no errors codes.

A 034 Insuction Bundle went in today.

What a pain it was getting that OE inlet out and getting the SuperDuper one in. My hands are all cut up. But it's done. And I have ALL the turbo sounds. Way more than the RocEuro intake I had before.

And the 034 strut tower brace went in yesterday.

I didn’t get to drive it much but the little I did the steering felt sharper and the car seemed to also track a little straighter more easily, the steering wheel a little more eager to return to center.

I feel the same thing. My turn in is sharper, It returns to center faster, tracks better.

The combo of ABT HAS and the 034 strut tower bar is pretty excellent. I'm not sure if it needs sway bars anymore - unless you're AutoX'ing the car it's probably not necessary.

I've hit a few decreasing radius off and on ramps recently and did my best to break traction a little but she held on like an absolute champ.

I might miss the differential - but with this combo I don't miss the air suspension one bit.

I've had the brace on all 5 of my B9s. It's really good if your one that pushes their vehicle. It's very noticeable during quick inputs.

I must say, the bars provide the greatest improvement by quite a lot. Even for normal daily driving. The body roll is hugely reduced. My SQ is flatter than my S5 before I added a rear bar to it.

I enjoy the diff, but the air suspension isn't great for handling or ride quality. You're better off on the HAS kit.

One of the best upgrades for the $ in my opinion. Makes a huge difference.
