Btw. Car looks awesome, love the green!
Thanks!
Yea, it’s pretty simple by comparison. There are 4 connections under the hood and also a cable that runs to the OBD2 port. Frankly, running the cable for the OBD2 port is the most troublesome but still not as bad as hacking harnesses and plugs.
The 4 connections under the hood are:
MAP
TMAP
BCM (Boost Control Module)
Fuel Pressure Sensor
If you are only going to run E91 or E93 then you you only need the MAP and TMAP under the hood.
Some people have reported better throttle response by connecting the Boost Controller but it’s only required if running more aggressive maps or larger turbos. The fuel pressure sensor is only used if you are mixing E85.
I have all 4 installed because I didn’t want cables just hanging around in the engine bay.
The OBD2 plug is required and you have to run it through the firewall but there is a spot that’s easy enough to use.
I would definitely opt for the Bluetooth module. It lets you adjust maps on the fly and it does logging and love reporting. I had the serial cable for the JB1 on my wife’s Golf R and it was a pain to haul out a laptop to use it.
