Which shop do you work for? I'm in Mesa and have been looking into getting some springs installed...

Did my install yesterday, I'm not sure why anyone is getting ridiculous quotes for install, I put a the EMD spring set in and it was very straighforward, if anyone in south FL needs them installed, let me know, I can do it for a reasonable cost.

Added my 12mm spacers and aligned the car today, set it up evenly -1.5* camber on all 4 corners, looks great, could use a 15mm rear spacer probably but I won't mess with it.

Installed the springs on my own, alignment was done for $150, and ride height calibration was $145. Drives like OEM on VWR springs.

These are the kind of price quotes that make me want to do it, the $1000 plus ones, not so much.

You don't even need a spring compressor for them, it's a pretty easy install as far as springs go.

What is the consensus on average installation time for a qualified shop or private party with lift, proper tools and knowledge?

The whole mechanical repair industry has gotten out of control. I just did this job on my b9 A4. I turn wrenches for a living and nobody should be charging more than 500 dollars for this job not including alignment. A competent mechanic could have this done before he goes to lunch. The rears on a lift could be done a half hour per side. Could do the front in an hour per side. Let’s be generous and call it 1.5 per front. The rears are two bolts per side and swap out. The fronts are strut pinch, upper control arm bolts. Sway bar and lower strut fork bolts. Three bolts on top strut in engine compartment drop out the strut and Compress and remove spring. I didn’t need a compressor for installing lowering springs on the factory sport struts.

Some of These quotes are absolutely insane and if you have a floor jack and tools no need to pay for this job. You can rent a spring compressor if you don’t have them. I think 650 700 is a fair number for installation with alignment. That’s an entire weeks take home pay for most people. No reason an independent tech should want more for half a days work.

I performed an aftermarket spring swap on my B9 SQ5 and on the front strut, I didn't need to even remove the pinch bolt or UCAs, there was enough clearance to get the strut out. Maybe it is just an SQ5 thing, but it was 1 hour per side.
