Audi a4 b8 - xenon headlights moving down and up on engine start

Hello. Well, as the title said my headlights were going down and up at car startup. Now it's gone for some reason, and it was a cool "animation" to me. Any help how to get it back? Nothing happens now, they just stay where they are on startup. No faults on dashboard.

They are supposed to self level on startup.

Check the level sensors on your control arms. The linkage is a weak point.

As Justin says, the sensors may be the culprit. It would be best to scan the car. If the sensors are not working, you'll see a code.

Are you lowered, and are the headlights pointing too far down when they are on than they were before?

In addition to the sensors, I had this happen once to my 2012 GTI, the animation stopped working and the lights were angled down (I was lowered on H&R springs). Could not figure it out and took it to the dealer (it was still under warranty). They stated the headlight module had "lost" it's coding, that the headlight aiming was just blank. They tried to blame me at first for messing around in the coding but it had been months since I did the aiming procedure in VCDS and had not used VCDS for anything since as well. They said they reloaded the programming and I never had the issue again.

IIRC though I did have a dash error for the AFS system.

My headlights stay where they are, they are not pointed too far down. I think they stay where they were before. It just doesn't have up/down thing as it had before.

I did actually scan the car and got:

    1 Fault Found:
01771 - Control Module for Headlight Range (J431)
    004 - No Signal/Communication

Btw, i can't even get into to Headight range section on VCDS, it throws some error.
